Wasnt a bad series, but it was going nowhere towards the end, so its no wonder it got axed….

    • It was building up to something, but any show in danger of being axed should just keep it simple, "baddie of the week" to build up ratings with the people who aren't going to watch it every week so they can afford to skip episodes, then once it has a more solid and loyal fanbase they should start tackling the bigger picture.

Pretty much sums it up :) Its a shame!

      • I think it was more of the network than the actual content. Fox is terrible at promoting Sci fi shows and is more of a comedy and reality tv network.
Quite a few of my mates in UK swear upon the show and were hooked on the reruns. The Uni students there absolutely loved the show and I don't think that was included in the ratings.

I mean look at The Walking Dead( yes not scifi but post apocalyptic) , had it been released on anything other than AMC or possibly Showcase or Syfy it would definitely have been axed.

      • I really hate baddie of the week shows (although some T:TSCC episodes were like that like the one with Cameron working in the library). I hate those kind of episodes becuse they feel disjointed and often don't follow the flow of the story. I think one of T:TSCC key strengths was that it was different and it wasnt afraid to delve deeper into the characters. They wouldnt have been able to do this this well if they hasdn't done the series the way that they did. It was really sad to see the series get axed. :(

    • It was axed due to extremely high production costs, the biggest of its time.

As with the show Deadwood, its not that these shows were going downhill, infact the opposite.
The production costs were just to high, & negotiations didn't work out with the corporate sponsors (advertisments) despite the millions of viewers who followed both shows.

Both shows are worthy of owning on Blu-Ray!

  • Can we take advantage of this

Not unless you have a UK postal address and can send mail from it. To get the £15 GC you need to receive a physical DVD and post it back. The GC is also snailed mailed to that address.

  • that's still heaps cheap for a pretty good series (some boring episodes but still better than the trash out there)

  • poor Summer Glau, Firefly got cancelled, now this, she can't get a break!?
Nathan Fillion at least got a sweet role in Castle and part bit in Desperate Housewives

    • Firefly, The 4400, TSCC, Dollhouse, The Cape, pretty much all of her shows are scifi shows, and they all end up getting cancelled. Sad but true.

    • Well she got a bit part in The Big Bang Theory! :p

And there's some movie out there about gargoyles or something similar with Glau in it.

    • After those oh so few episodes of Firefly (and Serenity I guess, though that was a bad wrap-up), I've really raised the bar for my sci-fi shows. :( :( R.I.P. Firefly.

  • all the good shows get cancelled, like flash forward, star trek, and so many other sci fi shows, yet we are subjected to season upon season of shit shows like chuck, lost, desperate housewifes, law and order, ncis

    • +4

Take that back about Lost. ;P

      • +2

And Chuck first season, that was good stuff
        Afterwards it was meh

  • It wouldnt post to me in Melbourne. Both the blue Ray and I then tried the normal DVD…Got to checkout and it said "sory a problem with your order cannot ship to that address" Anyone actually bought this?

    • +1

I bought it and I live in Melbourne. That's real weird.

  • Picked 1 and 2 up around the 10 to 12 pound mark at amazon.co.uk but may have been thehut, they often dip so keep you're eye out, you can grab season 1 and 2 on dvd for around the 15 pound mark.

    • yeah dvd prices flutuate quite a bit but bluray prices have some outrageous reductions compared to the dvd prices. Also some dvd players are not region free meaning region 2 UK dvds won't play on region 4 dvd players in Oz.

Still 15 quid for the dvd is a bargain

  • +2

Thank god for parallel imports. The box sets here in oz are usually found in locked glass display cases in stores, and for a good reason, they're way to heavily priced that I just glance at them from afar…

    • +1

or to prove that they actually stock those items, but dont want to sell them unless your prepared to find a staff member

  • one of the rare occasions i enjoy tv shows and fox axed it, and now theres McGarbage on the big screen with an oncoming sequel, sad days…

  • The mother from TSCC is in Game of Thrones, to be released here on tv soon.
I much prefer the story of TSCC vs salvation.
