2019 Model - TCL 75" QUHD LED LCD 75P8M $1988 Delivered (Bonus $200 Gift Card + $100 Cashback + Std 3 Yrs Wrrty) @ Harvey Norman

160

I have been looking for a 75" inch TV for a while and stumbled across this gem. Not only this is a 2019 model, unlike some other bargains where older 2017/2018 models were sold, it comes with the latest Android Oreo in TVs. Researched the brand and apparently it is third largest manufacturer of panels.

Compared this in-store with Samsung UA75RU7100W and the picture looked much vibrant and brighter. Bonus is 3 years manufacturer warranty, which others have mentioned a little hard to deal with. Given less reputable Kogan is selling a similar 75"inch HDR model at 1649 + delivery, I think this is a bargain.

EDIT: Looks like only TCL have QUHD Tvs. Other companies are not selling it, probably because there is not much content in 8K as yet. Others might know more.

  • Haven’t come across this model before.
What’s the difference between their qled and quhd models?

    • QLED is for "quantum dot LED TV", while QUHD means 8K resolution (IF the content supports)

QLED is correct and you'd think QUHD means 8k, but it doesn't. It's some weird marketing garbage TV companies do for 4k TVs. It's just standard 4k, nothing special.

        • Thanks, that explains it :)

        • The Q in QUHD stands for Quality (not joking). It’s TCLs marketing for their mid-tier TVs.

          • @slowey: I’m not good with specs and that sort of thing but I was looking at the X4US series
Seems pretty impressive with local dimming and the HDR 800 (whatever that means)… But this is so big!

  • Don't expect the warranty to be any good, I've been trying to return my tv for months now and they stopped answering my emails.

What happened? More details would be appreciated

I’ve been considering the x4us and the 3 year warranty is pretty appealing

    • Go to the retailer and let them deal with it

I had an issue with mine. They sent a lovely guy around, he replaced the motherboard and it has been great since. He said if I had any other issues, they would replace the TV. All this happened over a few days. No complaints here.

The warranty guy bought one himself and said they were great. I am quite an advocate nowadays.

I've heard TCL is the worst brand you can buy. Kinda like the new Soniq.

    • +1

I tried to convince myself of that but looked at an equivalently priced tcl next to a Samsung or Sony and was blown away by the value for money and picture quality

    • +2

      You heard wrong.
Also they have been around for years, don't know how they become the new Soniq.

    • +1

I wouldn't put them in the same bin as Soniq. After all, they did sell over 28 million sets last year and in terms of global market share I reckon they're in the top four/five together with the likes of Samsung/LG/Sony/Hisense.

  • Quite confusing naming probably on purpose to confuse people with Samsung's QLED and UHD.

This is an LCD, 4k, 160 zone backlight tv.
Max 330 nits so not super bright either,

It is big and cheap for the price after cashbacks though

TCL is the second largest TV manufacture, according to online sources, I have purchased two models over the last 2 years. One QUHD and the QLED. Both are great TV's. You just can't look past the value and performance.

I have TCL in my household and I cannot be any happier with the amazing picture quality and value. I have considered other major brands but when I saw the TCL next to them, it changed my perception of the brand. When I did further research, I have found out that TCL is second largest TV manufacturers in the world and is one of few brands that are vertically integrated which means they have full control over the entire production process to deliver high quality TV. It may not be as well known as the Korean brands, but it is one of the fastest growing TV brands in Australia.

  • Anybody know the input lag for this tv? Can't find it on rtings/google search/tcl specs

Also a bit worrisome, on the harvey norman review that yamaha soundbar is incompatible with TCL, wonder if yamaha receiver is compatible?

And Jb Hifi is selling it for $2495 and they incorrectly said you can get $200 cashback from TCL sigh

I had the same video playing on all the TVs at Harvey Norman, did not notice any difference (so maybe not visible to the naked eye). Comparing the stats with the US version (notice different models in US and Australia), but this one looks most similar and instead of ROKU, we have Android TV - https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/tcl/4-series-s425-2019

It has plenty of inputs, not sure what option is available on Yahama
      Optical SPDIF Output/HDMI ARC
      Bluetooth
      A/V IN
      AV In
      Headphone Output

      • Thanks for the reply. I hate how manufacturers change up the models name depending on the country :/

I'm looking to connect to hdmi arc. I sent TCL au an email so we will see how that goes

Hopefully harvey norman caringbah has a display model and lets me hook up my laptop to see what its like

  • Now down to $1695 @ JB HiFi with Bonus $100 CashCard - I'm very tempted

    • it was cheaper at HN 2 weeks ago with the extra $200 gc
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/464429

      • That was due to a pricing error at HN. They have now changed the GC to $100.

        • the $100 Cashback is a TCL promotion,

the $200 GC was being sent if you ordered it while it was up. Taken down now though as you said.
