I am a full time homemaker. I now live in central QLD. I have lived in 4 different states thanks to my husband being a soldier (now retired).

      • +3

        I never met any mansions.

  • Have you ever demolished homes?

    What states do you live

    I’m guessing

    Anger
    Happy
    Bored
    Sleepy

Thanks on behalf of your husband and all non homemakers for keeping the house clean, it’s the most underappricated job

Right now I am in the state of resignation, preparing for my QLD supporting husband's frequent arguments with the TV* tonight.

I really appreciate your dedication to your husbands carrier and also appreciate your husbands dedication to our country. We also moved over 15+ times in my child hood.

  • What were you doing before being a homemaker and do you miss it?

    • I was a nurse before I had my boys.

      • +2

        What’s your cats name?

        • +2

          Haha
One is called Sugar (named for a childhood cat)
The other is called Crystal (came with her name from the RSPCA)

          • @Quantumcat: I once dated a girl named Crystal. She had really sharp claws and quite a temper. How's your Crystal?

  • Why do you live in central QLD now? You mention you liked Melbourne, perhaps head back there now?

Do you have kids? What do they do?

    • My husband got a job here in Gladstone. We moved where the work is.

My first son is doing an IT degree,
My second son is about to enter air force.

      • We moved where the work is.

I reckon there might be a job or two in Melbourne.

      • How come you didn't go back to work when the kids were old enough to go to school? Weren't you bored?

        • At that stage we were moving every couple of years.
I just got used to entertaining myself e.g. gardening and books

  • +3

    new idea or women's weekly?

  • +1

    What else do you make?

    • Not much else, have a quiet life.

      • How do you kept yourself entertained when the kids were at school?

        • *How did you keep yourself entertained when the kids were at school?

  • Is Hebel quality any good?

  • Favourite daytime TV show?

  • I've agreed to sacrifice my career to follow my wife's dreams. You more or less did the same thing.I'm wondering if you have any regrets or resentment and how that affected your relationship with your partner.

Not working after I had my boys wasn't really an issue because I was glad I was always there in case my husband had to go away.
The hardest part was making friends and then getting moved yet again.

      • Do you make friends easily?

        • Not really. I am on the quiet side.

          • @JoChris: Same and that is a bit of a concern for me, especially as we'll be moving to a different country altogether.

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: A lot of Australians seem to live overseas these days.
Maybe you could research social groups for expats or just social groups in general?

              • @JoChris: Thank you.

  • What is life after the army for your family?

    • +1

A lot quieter and less stressful overall. It is good to be close to extended family again.
I miss all the free travel and sightseeing (thanks to transfers) though.

  • Do you feel like you wasted your potential?

  • +1

When your husband was on deployment, did you fool around with the neighbours, or guys you met at the supermarket?
