Samsung Galaxy Note 9 to Buy or Not to Buy

Hi guys,

Just wanted to get some feedback from Note 9 owners on the phone performance and battery life.

I am thinking of buying a Note 9, but having a bit of dilemma convincing myself whether it is worth buying or not.

Comments

  • Battery life is really good for me.I really enjoy the overall package and all the little extra features samsung puts in. Performance is decent, I don't have too many issues except the occasional stutter every now and then. Camera is decent but not the best by any means

I have used Samsung phones in the past but currently using a Nokia. Battery life is good… lasts whole day. OS is updated regularly. The screen is a bit smaller than Note 9. I am having a hard time convincing myself to buy the Note 9.

      • then don't if you're happy

      • In terms of camera, size, display, battery life, efficiency and speed, the QSD 845 Note9 is actually equivalent to the Exynos 9820 S10+.

So I would say get whatever is cheaper, or don't pay much extra for the S10+ variant.

The Note9 offers an extra S Pen, and a display without a cut/hole/notch. But the S10+ offers a slightly longer update path.

When it comes to Custom ROMs, YMMV.

Coming from an iPhone 8, I was very surprised on how smooth and stable Samsung phones are right now. I would rate the Note9 smoothness 9/10 comparing to iOS.

Battery can last me a whole day on heavy use so I never had to worry about carrying a powerbank.

However, if you are not planning to use the stylus and don't care much about the screen size then I would suggest getting an S9 or S9+ instead. Literally the same phone but S9 is cheaper.

Don't use much of stylus. Big screen I don't mind. My Nokia is a bit smaller than note.

  • I am still rocking a Note 3 and the battery life is great. Then again, I have 3 batteries that I can swap in/out but a single one last more than a day anyhow.

  • If you don't use the phone, it will last days, if you are a heavy user and on it all day, prepare to be on charge by afternoon. It does have fast charge, which is also good. The phone is awesome and is quick.

Not a fan of the camera, but its your top of the line andriod phone for spec's and apps etc. I would get one if that is what you are after. Just remember the Note 10 is not far away.

  • Had it, sold it. Got an s10 plus for cheaper than I bought and sold the 9. Much better cam tbh on the s10+

Slightly miss the s pen for doodling ideas though.

I have Note 9 and it's a huge and heavy phone.

If you don't need the spen, get S10 or S10+.

I've had pretty average battery life. I was expecting at least 25% better tbh.

If you are still for Note 9, wait a while until Note 10 is out and you'll save another $100-150.

On a salary sacrifice, it will cost me around $750 after tax. That's the only thing making me to consider buying it

      • lol u could of bought a grey note 9 for $680 on a ebay deals a few weeks ago. if u dont mind grey wait for this deal again https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/459879.

        • Sorry, I can't justify spending more than $100 on something that doesn't have a local warranty. That's just me though.

  • I love mine. The camera is fantastic once you install the Google Camera, performance is fast, and battery life is above average if you're not loading it up with intensive stuff. I'm used to an Android experience where things lag, crash, and generally perform worse than iOS, but everything just works on this phone. Well recommended.

I WOULD say that an S9 would probably be a better purchase if you didn't specifically want the better battery/bigger device/S Pen.

I have owned a note 4 in the past, so having a bigger device doesn't bother me. My main concern is the battery life and my Nokia lasts whole day with some juice to spare at the end of the day. Hope the battery life in note 9 is good too.

      • Mine will last me throughout the day with about 25 or so percent spare if I'm not using it all the time.

  • edited, sorry wrong post
