Sydney Accommodation for Family of 5

Hi all,

Taking MrsE and three kids (all under 10) up to Sydney for 9 nights in August/Sept. We would (preferably) like to stay in CBD, but accommodation prices are extortionate (even out of school holidays).

Have checked Airbnb (and Stayz, et al) but not much difference between costs there and proper hotels. Have considered YHA hostel but don't want to sleep in same room as kids (we love them, just not 24 hours a day!). From what I can see, Family room at YHA = all sleeping in same room.

So I am after helpful suggestions about any reasonably priced accom in CBD that fits the following guidelines:'

*2 Bedrooms (minimum)
*Walking distance to train station
*Ideally less than $200 per night (but can stretch up to $250 per night if necessary)

For the right property, we are happy to book two hotel rooms and stick the kids in the next room.

While I wouldn't mind staying in a suburb like North Sydney or even Mascot (given easy train access), CBD is preferred (if possible).

    That is only a single bedroom apartment. I guess the kids all sleep in the lounge …

  Try the Meriton property in Mascot. Situated a short train ride from the CBD for a substantially lower nightly rate than the CBD.

    Unfortunately, cheapest Meriton option in Mascot for family of 5 is ~$3,500 for 9 nights…for that $$$ I can find somewhere nice in the CBD!

      Very unlikely to find anything comparable to Meriton size, quality and price-wize in CBD. Only Meriton(s) in CBD but they will cost even more.

      And Meriton @ Green Square is fantastic, just a little further away from the station.

  Have a look at Meriton Bondi Junction
  2 bedroom, 2 bathroom balcony apartment for 9 nights on booking.com is $2410, you can pay $150 more and get a Harbour View, theres amazing harbour views from there.
  Indoor swimming pool, gym, free wifi.
  Check the deals and see if you can get a discount on a hotel booking site.

  The apartments are right on top of the transport interchange so you can get anywhere easily. Its only 3 stops on train to Martin Place.
  Bondi Junction Westfield next door with Woollies Coles and an Aldi close by.

    WARNING - Dumb question alert

    The two bedroom, two bathroom apartment above says up to four adults…will Meriton allow all five of us to stay in it?

    Our youngest in only 2 so can easily make do with portacot or inflatable mattress…

  OK, so pleased to report that I have Ozbargained the **** out of our accommodation booking for Sydney in August.

  2 Bedroom apartment in Kirribilli for 9 nights for ~$1,350 in total via Airbnb. NBN wifi, harbour views, swimming pool, BBQ and easy walk to public transport = GOLD!
