Product description

Cuisipro Surface Glide Technology takes the etched blade a step further and makes the graters sharp and more productive with its repeated grooves, grating more with less effort. It has five grating surfaces, fine for citrus zest and parmesan, coarse for most cheeses and vegetables, ultra-coarse for soft cheeses and slicer for a variety of vegetables. Bonus ginger grater base shreds fresh ginger root while leaving unwanted fibres behind. Non-slip handle and removable base for stability. Calibrated, dry measuring units on side. Blades are made from high quality stainless steel material.

      Feels grate.

In general I'm fine with paying more for a premium product that is genuinely better to use but I cannot fathom paying 40 bucks for a cheese grater.

paid about $30 for a judge brand one, doesn't rust sharp as f# and this is 2-3 years later. Worth every penny.

      cheesy…

  • Is this dishwasher-safe or will it's sharpness be affected?

    • It will only dampen its spirit.

  • Interested. I use the grater regularly, seriously considering this for the ‘surface glide’ feature but at the same time apprehensive about the chemicals they adhered to it at high temperature.. hmmmm and the current one (only one we’ve ever bought) works just fine. Edit: also price.

    • apprehensive about the chemicals they adhered to it at high temperature.

      What chemicals? it's stainless steel.

      also price.

That is a legit concern. $20 is a more realistic price.

My thought was they achieved the ‘surface glide’ smoothness like they do on non-stick pans (by adhering a chemical layer at super-high temperature).

        • I think you'll find it's the ridges/grooves on the surface helps it "glide" straight down the face, to help prevent sideways movement.

if they were using Teflon, I reckon they'd straight out say it "Teflon easy glide" - like they do on irons. But reading it on their website, the "suface guide" is just marketing guff describing the grooves.

          • @[Deactivated]: Oh I see, some kind of friction reduction design. Maybe I was just expecting something ‘teflon’ fancy at this price range.

            • @thebadmachine: There is no chemical coating so ever. From the picture, you can see there are stripes along the surface for gliding along the grating plate w/o side moment.

  • Does anybody know what the other three sides actually do?

    • Usually a smaller grate, slices and fine grate (eg. for Parmesan).

    • one for fingers, one for corns/dead skin, one to threaten the kids with
