NBN Installed My Service Yesterday, Now The Conduit Is Falling off

Hi guys,

https://imgur.com/a/VGinuEw

Had the NBN guy come yesterday to my apartment complex to install the NBN service to my unit, he used a plastic conduit across the wall lining and directed it to the modem.

Not even 24 hours later the thing has fallen off and now just hanging there. Looks like he used double side sticky tape to stick it to the wall

Gave Telstra a call as they are the ones who booked the NBN guys to install the service. They said it's not their problem. They first advised to hire a local contractor to fix it at my own cost.

After some talking they advised me to contact NBN (Too late now their closed). So have to wait til Monday

Has anyone else experienced this situation and how was it resolved?

    Gold.

I mean, NBN might come out and fix it and you'd think that they should, but I can imagine the hoop jumping/wait time they'll put you through will be hopeless.

Do you own the apartment? If so, maybe just stick it back up with some liquid adhesive yourself. At least then you'll know a good job of it will be done.

OP just stick it back up yourself, too much trouble trying to get NBN to fix it.

    • Think I might have to. Kind of slack from NBN using cheap sticky tape instead of mounting tape

      • Go to Bunnings. Get liquid nails. Sorted.

      • Very, but it's just not worth the time of day to chase it up.

3M mounting tape is good stuff. Pretty sure Bunnings sell it.

Wow, op send me a pm with your details (username, contact name and number). I'll raise it through our complaints channels (I work for Telstra)

    • Cant send a pm yet.

I'll see what NBN does first. Honestly think ill do it myself, better to do it with mounting tape that cost 5$ then have them to do it again with just sticky tape as others have suggested

  • Looks alright to me :-)

      Spotted the NBN installer!

      • Do they have nbn in NZ?

        • A new Zealander in Victoria. Not the other way around.

Yes and it's a lot faster and cheaper than what we have. Can get a 1000mbps download plan for roughly $100 NZ per month and more widely available.

Similar plan is generally business only and $120-$400 in Australia.

NBN contractor did that, this is not an unusual situation.

Rough as guts… do many jobs a day… heaps of money at end of week

    Stuff the customer

Why wasn't it installed in the roof space and behind the walls?

Apartment complex. Up is another apartment. He used the pre-existing lines outside of the apartment doors and as far as I can see they are lined up with the same conduit under the ceiling corner on every level of the apartment complex

  • Pretty much what you get when the Liberals are in charge of things. Slightly cheaper (on paper), but totally hopeless.

    • The ALP had their chance to win and perhaps "fix" the NBN. We now have wait another 4 years because they failed.

NBN Co have quietly started to replace some extra dodgy FTTN in some suburbs with FTTP/C so that's a plus at least for a small minority.

You're right. Silly me. I forgot that the election was decided by a ping pong match, and Labor just didn't try hard enough.

The people voted a Liberal government for a second term, which is fine, but you get what you pay for, and with the Liberals, this is what they paid for.

    As others have said……
This is not an issue at all
Just stick back yourself one way or the other.

If its clip together conduit then open it and screw it back on.
Otherwise use the appropriate wall attachments which you can buy from any hardware store.

Yes the installer did a dicky job but they are paid a pitence so thats all they are obliged do. They must also take care not to cause any damage.
So they they walk between a rock and a hard stone.

As long as your NBN service is working nobody will care to fix it.
