The battery kinda kills the deal…

  • Was tempted to get one when HVN had the 20% off. But they put it next to a few other tablets and the screen… well.. is inferior compared to other latest gen tablets.

  • I'd rather buy a ZT-180 for a 1/3 of the price.
(I know the specs aren't the same. the ZT-180 is somewhat lower in some aspects, but is same ghz, same ram, etc)

    • I have the ZT-180 V2, and I don't think you should compare them.
      No 3G vs 3G
      Resistive vs Capacitive (I suppose)
the ZT-180 is an overclocked outdated CPU vs Tegra …. well do I need to comment
the ZT-180 doesnt have the best screen either

Don't get me wrong, I got the ZT-180 v2 (512MB 4BG) for around $110 and happy with it (kind of)

      • I am wondering if I should get the ZT-180 or the ZTE V9. After using the ZT, what would you get?

If I was seeking an entry level tab, I'd be peddling my backside over to either Optus's online order page, or your nearest BigW/DSE/Auspost store pronto! At $99 they are an absolute steal! :)

      • my thought process is that if you are going to pay 3 times the price it should be at least double as good.

        I don't need 3g so that is a + for the ZT-180.

If I bought a new car I'd still think "if I paid more then I could have bought a better car" but it the car gets me from A to B is trouble free, etc then I'd live with it.

Does your ZT-180 v2 do what you want it to do? are you satisfied with it? what more would you want from it?

I'd be buying it for reading stuff, a few basic games, wifi (at home), watch some movies. I guess I'd get a case with keyboard for uni work. that's it. really. I'd only be using it on the train to and from work. would the ZT-180 v2 be suitable for all that?

  • Memory: 512MB of 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM installed

So does this mean upgradable, ie. SODIMM?

  • Runs Android 2.2 Froyo. Viewsonic is non-committal about providing any upgrade to Gingerbread.
Although the processor and graphics chip are okay, the 512MB of 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM may not be sufficient to run Honeycomb, which is the first Android release that takes full advantage of the tablet platform as oppose to earlier versions that are designed for smartphones.

  • What a shame. With a Tegra 250 I would think that it should be capable of running Honeycomb. But only 512MB of memory. ARGHH!

  • Personally, I wouldn't touch any viewsonic tabs.

Viewsonic is now famous for buying OEM products and put viewsonic logo onto them.
Viewsonic has pretty much no R&D team now, so product support is very terrible, and update is almost impossible.

  • Unless you really want to save the 125 bucks, or very comfortable with rooting/flashing the tablet. I would suggest an Acer Iconia

The Viewsonic has a crappy skin on froyo and does not have access to the Android market. Compare this to a Honeycomb device that has generally good reviews.
