Just out of interest, I wanted to see how many direct debits people had as companies move to maintain a 'relationship' with you.
Mine are:
- Spotify
- Health insurance
- Car insurance

They're just off the top of my head - everything that has some regular payments really. Used to pay these using credit card but got annoying every few years having to update all when your new card arrives, had to be replaced, etc.

Opal (just in case - but I top up w/ WISH GCs for discount)

Everything else is manual; left it that way so that I could maximize my spend on cards when I churn CC for points.

I refrain myself from using DD as much as I can and prefer to pay my dues 2 to 3 days before the due date. I use an app called Just Reminder which alerts me and also use the Google notification which it extracts bill data from my email automatically.
Internet and Netflix, that's it, and only then because there's no alternative.
I always try and avoid it as some companies can be a PITA to cancel it once set up.
If you use Paypal for debits, it's easy to cancel without dealing with the company at all.
Obviously that only works for a few things.
Other option is a separate card only for certain debits, and be ready to cancel/"lose" it when a company gives you any difficulty.
The two that I do have are on a low limit card that's not used for anything else for just that reason but it's still easier to not bother setting them up in the first place.

We don't own a house yet so not too many, although I have to say I'm fully onboard for direct debit, paying everything manually would just be downright silly.

Then I have iTunes which is set up to use my debit card for YouTube premium, iCloud storage, Stan and whatever iTunes movies I rent through the year.
I have all my DD and iTunes going to one bank account which gets money transfer from another bank account that I get paid into weekly that way in a way I prepay my bills, I could put it on credit card for points but seems like a waste of time updating when new card comes ever 3 years or so
Only credit cards repayments.
