Been using WTW87565AU for last 1.5 + years, now thinking of even upgrading my washing machine to bosch.

    • +1

I pulled the trigger on this one last night. It says expired, but send a message through eBay to see if they actually have stock. Had 3 in WA warehouse as of this morning.

Make sure you get a wasching machine which was actually made in Germany and not Turkey or wherever the other crap is coming from

      • How can you tell? I suppose the serial number should give away

        • Usually says on the front near the display, made in Germany. From memory all series 8 washers are made in Germany (and have it marked on the front) these are made in Poland so don't have a label on the front.

I have the matching series 8 washer and it's excellent. The auto dispenser system for the detergent is awesome.

          • +1

@mac2403: I have the auto dispensing one too, (profanity) magical.

      • What is the empirical difference between one made in China / Turkey or whatever vs one made in Germany? I think there's a lot of myth around this. Even the big "German" car makers make a lot of their cars in cheaper labour cost locations like Mexico etc now.

        • They make the cheap ones in turkey etc

Cheaper components , cheaper build quality

  • Pretty sure we bought this one last time they had a sale. Can’t really complain! Can’t put all our towels in at once to dry though, must be too much/too heavy to really work effectively, but isn’

    • Is yours stacked on top of a washing machine? Does it become too high to operate?

      • Ours are side by side
It’s not too low to operate :)

    • Wait if you air dryed the towels a bit first to lighten them.

      • We generally throw them in the dryer (maybe half the towels) then once that’s done throw the other half in. Given we use bath sheets and they’re huge, a wet one probably takes up most of the 9kg, so it’s not like it’s not performing as intended.

  • putting environmental issues aside, would you every break even, considering the cost, using this type of dryer compared to a standard vented dryer?

    • Good question

    • I used this website to help get a rough calculation. You can compare two appliances by different energy star ratings. This model dryer has a 7 star energy rating.

    • +3

Probably not but there are also other considerations, such as if you have a small un-vented space.

      • Yeah, this is why we need condenser/heat pump. Idiot/dodgy builder put an extraction fan in the plans for the house, then didn't install it when it was built.

    • Depends on how often you use a dryer , if you are an occasional user then no

Many other reasons to use a heat pump over a vented dryer as well

    • That's why we bought a condensed dryer. Stopped humidity, cost more than normal dryer but wasn't as steep as the air con versions.

    • This one would be less steamy, cheap ones tend to be really steamy if you can’t duct it out properly. If you’re breaking even may as well get the less steamy one.

    • Family of 5, plus 2 dogs, I calculated ours would pay for itself in 2-3 years.

  • Great dryer, had one for two years now. It does take up to 3 hours for a full load but the drying quality is excellent and avoids moisture being put into your air.

  • Thanks. You posted this just in time. Saved my parents from getting the 8kg Series 4 for the same price.

  • There are 3 models of the series 8 9kg heat pump dryer on the bosch website. I really can't tell the difference. Even when using the "compare" function and "show differences".

Bosch are shocking at making model differences obvious!

    • This model will do the job

  • Does anyone know whether this would be able to be mounted ontop of a Samsung washing machine? I know brackets are designed for the same brand - but unsure as to whether there are 3rd party dividers if all the dimensions match up between the two machines?

    • As long as the size is right it will sit on top of the washing machine just fine

    • I remember looking into this and if you use a non Bosch appliance under it then you void the Bosch warranty. This is what they said when I contacted Bosch because the mount is not designed to work with any other unit. i would have purchased one otherwise. I also asked about wall mounting and they said it is not suitable for wall mount.

      • +1

Lmao that’s the biggest load of bs I’ve heard in my life

Did you ask for them to provide that in writing ?

        • I suggest you read through the reviews here

          https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/bosch-wtv74100au-s…

The stacking kit that Bosch provides is only for Bosch driers and washing machines.

If you put it ontop of anything else and it falls off or damages anything else then Bosch won’t come to the party.

There is a person named “Cathy” and she also spells out that the drier needs to be mounted on a Bosch washing machine.

If you like you can go buy one and put it ontop of a non Bosch washing machine and test out your reply. I don’t think there is a mounting kit approved by Bosch to sit on a non Bosch machine. Unless you are aware of one?

          • @ibuy: I suggest you have nfi about washers and dryers

You don’t need a stacker kit

Put the dryer on top of the washer

If it falls off you have a big problem with your washing machine

I note you failed to answer the question

            • @J5: So if your new Bosch dryer falls off your old washing machine, you have a problem with the washing machine yeah? So will the washing machine manufacturer then fix or replace your Bosch dryer?

            • @J5: The comments from the Bosch rep in the replies he gives in the forums answer your question.

              • @ibuy: All I see is a Bosch person you must use a stacking kit , they are trying to cover their own arse

I have seen literally thousands on dryers sitting on top of washing machines of every mixed brands that you can imagine

I have never seen a dryer fall off a front loader but seen a few fall off walls

If you want a stacking kit then go for your life

    • Thanks guys,

I might wait for a Samsung dryer to come on sale!

    • Just get one of those rubber mat things from Bunnings.

  • +1

To the current owners, Does this include the mounting bracket to lock the dryer to a Bosch washing machine?

    • Negative. Optional Extra.

      • Do you find the dryer easy to operate when stacked on top of the washing machine? Just wondering how the missus is going to reach the buttons as it doesn't appear that this dryer can be installed upside down?

        • i have them stacked and my girlfriend (5'7) finds it very easy. it's never really occurred to me that it's that tall to be honest.

          • @dirkgonnadirk: Cheers. Perhaps the missus can use a ladder.

            • +1

@spasto: I'm 5'4 and I don't have to stand on my tiptoes to reach the buttons :)

              • +1

@hastetowaste: Cheers. My missus is 5'3 so hopefully she'll be ok.

                • +1

@spasto: Just measured, the centre of the power button and control knob is 1.62m high. Bottom of the opening with the door open is about 1.2m. Ours is Stacked on a Series 8 washing machine with a 10mm rubber mat between them.

    • +1

      @spasto
Easy to use, not sure whether button panel is reversible like few other dryers.

  • Thank you very much @misterchan I've been waiting months for a deal like this, I bought one at last! Just in time for winter :)

  • FWIW, this one didn't make the Choice recommended list unfortunately. The Bosch WTY88701AU and WTB86200AU did.

    • What stats do they have for it?

      • Top two
        LG TD-H802SJW (Heat Pump) Overall: 84%, Drying: 78%, Efficiency: 90% - Recommended
        LG TD-H901MW (Heat Pump) Overall: 84%, Drying: 77%, Efficiency: 90% - Recommended

        Bosch
        Bosch WTY88701AU (Heat Pump) Overall: 80%, Drying: 75%, Efficiency: 85% - Recommended
        Bosch WTB86200AU (Condenser) Overall: 78%, Drying: 85%, Efficiency: 72% - Recommended
Bosch WTW87565AU (Heat Pump) Overall: 72%, Drying: 63%, Efficiency: 80%

Seems it's got a slower drying time but that might not be so important to some. The price looks good for a heat pump model.

    • I don't even see those listed on their website.

Closest I could find is this, which is a condenser not heat pump: https://www.bosch-home.com.au/productlist/washers-dryers/tum…

Edit: the other one is a heat pump. It's no longer available (at least at appliances online) and has been superseded with something pretty similar* to the one in question.

      *No time to research intricacies

  • "This item is out of stock".

    • +4

It's in stock, but looks like the price has actually dropped, so the price after 15% off is now $1183. After cashback that will be $1083. A bit unfair for those of us that jumped on this early! :(

      • Good thing I used 28 degrees!

      • Ah yes back in stock. Got one.

      • Call up/email appliance online, but NOT via eBay (as they are useless). They have a 7 day price guarantee. I had my difference refunded ;)

        • Actually I contacted them via eBay messaging and they refunded the difference!

  • +2

good deal but I cant believe ppl pay that much for a dryer…i use air dry. esp on ozbargains.

    • Yeah, I can't see myself ever dropping 1k+ for a dryer.

      • I paid 50+% more a couple of years ago and I'm still happy.

    • If you're time poor these condenser dryers are life changing. Air drying takes alot of time and effort and you have to monitor the weather.

With this you wash like normal throw into dryer and a few hours later your clothes are fresh and dry. It even removes lint! It will consume less energy than the washer unit. And vs a heat unit, it is alot more gentle on your clothes.

No more needing to carry your washing outside, peg it up and then bring back in.

      • i'm not time poor, im' just poor :(

    • I get it and have resisted my spouse’s pleas for a dryer for ages.

But with a little one on the horizon we will need a dryer to make sure everything dries quickly and without the indoor lines hanging everywhere

  • RIP. I bought mine on the 28th :(

  • Missed out. Dammit!

    • Back in stock, but can't buy because it doesn't deliver to most of Australia. WTF?!?

Posts to Australia but excluding: Adelaide Metro, Melbourne Metro, Northern Territory, NSW Regional, QLD Far North, QLD Regional, QLD South East, SA Regional, Tasmania, VIC Regional, WA Regional, Africa, Asia, Central America and Caribbean, Europe, Middle East, North America;, Micronesia, Wallis and Futuna, Kiribati, Western Samoa, Vanuatu, American Samoa, Nauru, New Caledonia, Niue, Solomon Islands, Cook Islands, New Zealand, Tuvalu, French Polynesia, Guam, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Marshall Islands, Tonga, Palau, Southeast Asia, South America, PO Box

    • I was pretty bummed to think I missed out on this one as I was getting the same message @miyagi was.

I called their helpline from the appliances online website (1300 000 500) and a guy walked me through a workaround.

He also confirmed that there’s stock in NSW for them, and that they definitely deliver to my area. Worth a call I reckon as the closest in price is TGG @1499

  • I presume this is too heavy to be wall mounted?

  • Got E&S to price match, including free delivery, (this was after getting a fantastic price on a washing machine last week, they did remember me, and that may have helped), if your looking for one you might want to call E&S Essendon they have free delivery for bosch products, but i believe it ends today.

they are freaking friendly there too, i just finished reviewing them five stars i was so happy with their service!

i also got a stacker as i wanted to put it on-top of my washing machine that i got off them.

(In the end i actually got a better deal ;) )

given these guys are in Victoria as well…
