Is the carpet head for the dreame out yet?

    • +8

No, but it has band28 and NFC if you want to grab your "ozbargain's most predictable comment" badge.

      • No Jack?

    • +7

Carpet head order has been placed. Hopefully can get it 4-5 weeks time.

      • Hey rep, Will it be available with the cleaner or as a separate item?

        • +2

          Will separate in the beginning.

          • +2

@Gearbite: Oooppss.. I was waiting for this to be available so i could order Dreame.. Any idea how much would the carpet head cost ?

          • @Gearbite: Hey rep

Can it be used on carpet without the carpet head? I mean is carpet head that much necessary to use it on a carpet or it can still do the job?
Will it cause the supplied head to burn out?

What is the difference between a carpet head and hard floor head?

            • +1

              @jayawt:

Can it be used on carpet without the carpet head?

Yes but it will not work very well because of the low suction.

What is the difference between a carpet head and hard floor head?

              The carpet head has bristles

  • It's coming up as 299.59 for me using the code PAPPY, how do we get it for 282.95?

    • eBay Plus members get 15% otherwise it's 10%

      • +2

        OK. Bought one anyway.

FYI Kogan is selling the Roidmi F8 for 299+shipping. It has the carpet head and some better attachments as well as faster charge time. I went the dreame as it as a medium power setting (28min) - Roidmi only has High (8min) and low (55min). Dreame may also be faster to empty

Bought a dreame vacuum 2 weeks ago for $299 since I do not have ebay plus.

It is a very well built machine. The build quality is up there to a Dyson but without the huge mark up. It is a little heavier than my Dyson V6 and white colour isn't for everyone.

    • How does suction compare to v6?

      • +1

        Mi 2

    • 100% xiaomi is one of those chinese companies that does not give a shit about copyright laws. They would have taken apart the Dyson's and just built it themselves for cheaper.

  • +1

awww 6 cents cheaper than last deal lol ripped off :)

    • Still cheaper, what is ripped off?

  • +1

Are the robot vacuums actually practical? Anyone used these and can recommend?

    • +5

Super practical and I highly recommend it. Has made doing the housework a lot easier as we can clean other areas of the house while it's vacuuming. Never had any issues with it, the house mapping and zone cleaning features are great

    • +3

Have the Xiaomi 1st gen and it's amazing.
Only thing is you have to make sure you don't have any charging cables etc lying around otherwise it'll get stuck or pull them right in and tangle up.

      • Left my iPhone charger wire on the floor and I sucked it up and jammed lol. I love my gen 1.

My mum wants one. So I've been thinking to give her mine and get a gen 2 but it's so pricey..maybe shud get another gen 1.

Anyone reckons a gen 2 is worth the upgrade?

Not really into the mop function tbh

    • I've got roborock s50 (second gen xiaomi) It's fantastic.

Significantly reduces dust buildup in the home + general dirt/particle pickup. You'll still need a main vacuum for spot cleaning etc though.

  • Mines good so far! Interested in what the carpet head is like..

  • +1

Bought the dream from last similar deal. If you're planning to install the dock station in the plaster wall, I highly recommend you get a high quality/metal plaster anchors. The ones that came in the box were no good and I broke the plastic bits(or arms) of one of the anchors while installing. The metal ones hold the dock good and vacuum's in & out is very slick.

  • Goddamit. Bought the robot vacuum a few days ago but it wasn't the international version. Already shipped. gearbite tell me they are exactly the same box but I am a little skeptical. Any chance of getting a switch here gearbite?

  • +1

Would I be missing much getting Robot V1 instead of the V2?

    • I've had issues with V1 on black carpet. No issues with v2

      • Yes! Weird with gen 1 on black carpet

    • From my research the upgrades are not that amazing and the mopping function sucks so the V1 will do most of what you want it for.

    • No. I have V1 for almost 2 years (bought it in August 2017). The best purchase I have ever made.

  • +1

My thoughts after 2 weeks of using dreame on carpet - on max has better suction than dyson v6, but inferior to v10. Heavier than v6 but ergonomically the trigger to turn it on is the same. Heats up a little whilst using it. Accessories are of inferior quality to dyson but overall acceptable for the price. Have not had any experience changing the filter. Overall would recommend to those upgrading from V6 or DC35, but is a downgrade from V10/V11.

    • How can you use it on carpet, you will burn out the little motor in the head if you use the hard flooring head….

      • Lucky I have a 1 year warranty then (by which time the carpet attachment should be out)! In all seriousness, i find it improbable that the motor will burn out unless you constantly run it over high shaggy pile carpet. The main issue is lack of suction due to lack of agitating bristles.

        • The main issue is lack of suction due

That is an issue with all sick vacuums but it has nothing to do with not having bristles.

          • @spaceflight: I don't think anybody is arguing that a stick vacuum is going to have the same amount of suction as a corded vacuum. It is however a handy thing to get out for small areas. What's your problem with stick vacs? Are you a hardcore vacuum enthusiast? Is it really you Godfrey?

            • @revacious:

I don't think anybody is arguing that a stick vacuum is going to have the same amount of suction as a corded vacuum

              Dyson is

              With full-size suction power

              https://www.dyson.com.au/mobile/vacuums/dyson-cyclone-v10

What's your problem with stick vacs?

Why would I want to buy something that's inferior when for the same price I can get something that actually cleans properly.

They are supposed to replace corded vacuums but are not as good.

“This is why I’ve stopped developing corded vacuums.”
              James Dyson - Engineer

              • @spaceflight: Its a different product. You aren't comparing apples with apples. A miele C3 costs 1.5k USD and this costs 300 AUD. Elderly people and kids cant use full size corded vacuums due to their size and weight. I agree that stick vacuums do not have the cleaning ability that full size machines do, but that does not detract from their usefulness. When you are 80 and living at home independently, lets see if you can manoeuvre around a 5kg vacuum and bend down attaching it to power outlets around your house.

                • @revacious:

You aren't comparing apples with apples.

I'm comparing against something that Dyson compares their own stick vacuums to.

A miele C3 costs 1.5k USD and this costs 300 AUD.

No it doesn't. You can buy 3 Miele C3 for that price.
                  A Miele C3 costs $479 AUD
                  https://www.harveynorman.com.au/miele-complete-c3-turbo-vacu…

And that comes with a carpet brush head, the Dreame does not and you need to buy as an extra (if it is ever available)

Elderly people and kids cant use full size corded vacuums due to their size and weight.

My dad can't use a stick vacuum because holding the trigger in all the time is to painful.

I agree that stick vacuums do not have the cleaning ability that full size machines do, but that does not detract from their usefulness.

Sure, but this is $300 and about as good as a broom.

When you are 80 and living at home independently, lets see if you can manoeuvre around a 5kg vacuum and bend down attaching it to power outlets around your house.

Ever person is different but using the Dreame means holding the 1.5kg weight and having the weight in your wrists as you maneuver it. Plus holding in the trigger (unless it has an option to gold the trigger in).

All the weight in a normal vacuum is on the floor and you have a hose so you only need to move the vacuum when you need extra hose.

    • on max has better suction than dyson v6, but inferior to v10.

      That's correct.

A V10 has 150 air watts, the Dreame has 120 air watts.

A good normal vacuum is higher
A Miele Complete C3 Brilliant does 250 air watts
A Dyson Cinetic is 230 air watts

    not a fan.

    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/1200w-upright-vacuum/222189… this thing rocks!
vacuum once, and get it done. The amount of gunk coming out of the carpet w this after using other vacuums is amazing.

    • +1

      I know it's not a fan, it's a vacuum cleaner. It's clearly stated

  • Are the gen 1 robotic vacuum international or chinese version

    • International Version.

      • Thanks. Much appreciated Purchased it earlier.

      • I was told there was no difference between the two. Is that correct?

  • +1

any chance this get included in the sale? (Xiaomi Cleanfly Car Portable Vacuum Cleaner)

  • Anyone have experience using the dreame on hard floors (wooden floors) ? It doesn't appear to have a hard floor head. Is there one I can buy separate?

    • The head that comes with the dreame works well with timber floors

  • +1

How does this compare to the Vax VX82 Blade 2 Max Cordless which is within a similar price range?

  • Hi rep any chance of the gen 2 restocking at the $450ish it was last wk. Thanks

  • +1

Anyone unsure about the Dreame, here's my little comparison between a Dyson V6, Aldi upright and Dyson ball vac (dc54).

    Dreame review

Nearly 2 months on and we love it. The wife even moreso who was a little skeptical at first - not a fan of my bargaining ways and skeptic of "no name stuff" 👋 🤦‍♂️

I find myself using it more often too as it's not cumbersome in anyway to just go grab the stick vac for little spills as opposed to ripping out the dc54 for a 5 second clean up.

Good product. Easy to empty, has more than enough sucking power for our boarded/tiled 3+1 BR house and handful of rugs and couch. 👍

  • Fast shipping. Mine (robot vacuum) arrived today.
    Very happy.

  • Fast shipping, Xiaomi Robot Vacuum arrived today, but no AU plug???

    • Mine came stuck on to the side of the outer carton. Perhaps your cable came off during delivery?

    • Yes on the outside packaging in an envelope taped to the box

  • +1

Just reconfirming, the dreame comes with AU plug cable? or will come with seperate AU adapter. Thanks.

  • Can anyone please help me?

I'm after the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum..

Any idea if this item is any good for the 1st gen?

Price seems to be too good to be true!

Or even this one which seems to be second gen with mop feature, only issue is 6 weeks delivery…

    • +1

You've linked to two different models.
The first one is a budget dumb vacuum. It has no laser sensor so it can't map your room.

Do yourself a favour and just order from this deal at gearbite.

      • Thanks for the info!

  • Hey OzB, anyone seen the Dreame listed on eBay for $109 with free postage? I'm checking with the seller to see if it's a mistake but apparently 10+ available from the listing.

    • let us know how it goes!

    • Likely a hijacked account because you would be "dreame"ing if you got it for $109. Even wholesale / china domestic prices are less than AU$180.
The seller also has nothing else listed, so that would also be a pretty big red flag.

  • Received my dreame in the mail during the week. Only had a chance to unbox today.

I've plugged it into charger, no lights and nothing for over two hours. Manual says we should see lights flash when charging. Also tried alternative power point as well.

Is there anything that you need to do to assemble that isn't in manual to get it working? Or any other suggestions?
