    You know what I mean.

  • good find. Nice price on the oil as well. $13 for older cars…

  • +1

Now the mechanics dont have to charge you $15 for a bottle…or maybe they'll still find a way to

    • +11

      Corkage? :p

    • I was spewing the last time I took my car to a mechanic, I used to do the services myself but I'm getting lazy as I get older :P - I can't believe they charge $20 for a fuel additive (that I didn't ask for). The extra $5 I paid must have been cause it was 'Premium' :P

      • Yeah, we've all been done like that…it's a mechanic special!

I think as we all get older we just get busier, don't beat yourself up too much…and cars are getting much more complex every year! :)

Plus, it's not as much fun scrubbing your hands free from grease with solvol soap, hand cleaner, kero, turps, laundry powder & washing up detergent once they've been that nice office-pink for a few years! :p

  • Bargain, I thought my twin pack for $9.99 at coles was a great deal but this puts that to shame. I'll be buying 6 tomorrow. Just remember guys, they advise not using this product more than 4 times (of recommended dosage) between oil changes so used correctly 6 bottles should last the average person a LONG time!

  • +1

Ive been told this is pretty much the same as putting a little acetone in your tank.. dont quote me on that but like all these things they are usually something simple. Bit like that bug and tar remover.. its just Kerosene. Good deal tho!

Does this crap actuly work? Hard to think some liquid makes ur car more noticably fuel efficient

    • For most people, no, it won't make any difference to their fuel usage. Petrol already contains solvents and detergents to prevent fuel injector fouling.

    • -2

You car becomes less efficient as it gets old.
This liquid cleans your fuel injectors to try to get it closer to its original efficiency.

      Hence it 'restores' fuel efficiency.

    • If your car was produced before 2005, I would say yes.

Anything later, your car should be alright to go without it.

What magic happened to cars in 2005?

I have never used this before, just a few questions
Do you pour in the whole thing?
Do you need to have an empty or full tank when you add the cleaner?
Every how many km's would you recommended it be added to your fuel?
What petrol would you recommended it to be used with 91,95 or 98?

    • Has instructions on the bottle, they are all different.

    • I'm pretty sure you can get all your questions answered by reading the bottle. Surely instructions will be provided.

    • Yes you pour the whole thing before filling up. The filling up allows for mixing.
Doesn't have to be completely empty. Say at least fill 10L?
You do an addition every 160L of petrol.

The petrol is dependent on the car you drive.
Some cars require premium petrol so (95 or 98 only).
Some cars cannot run well on 91.
The octane rating of the petrol doesn't affect the use of this product.

As pointed out above, if you run 98 petrol in your car, these usually already contain this fuel additive and cleaning agent.

  • I use to add kerosene (from memory or metho) to my petrol.

about 1 cup into the fuel tank every 6 months of my old 1975 toyota corona.

that apparently cleaned out the carby and fuel lines or something.

The engine would definitely idle faster until the kero was burnt up

    • It'd be metho, not kero. That's old school too, you're giving away your age bro! ;)

The theory used to be that it would act as an emulsifier/mixer of sorts if there was water taint in the fuel, allowing the water to pass through harmlessly!

If you added enough (as metho=ethanol) it would also effectively raise the octane of the fuel too! :)

Can I use this on my postie bike!

  • Is this one suitable for Diesel as well?

    • No, gasoline only.

    • I used it on our diesel to clean the injectors.

ie. I removed the injectors to replace the seals and ran them through an ultrasonic cleaner filled with this valvolene stuff. They came out good as new.

  • i wouldnt use this in high compression cars or turbo charged. not unless you like detonation :)

how much is shipping? if its free shipping, bargain.

    • Unfortunately you're going to have to do the old fashioned thing…drive to the store.

why was the other redline oil offer taken off?
just curious as i had to go through my history just to find it again, and was just fortunate i had clicked on the link yesterday :)

    • Could you provide the link. Redline user here.

    • eh? what did i get negged for?

  • good deal… unfortunately for WA they dont have a shop here :(

  • The nearest store from me is 20km away, damn.

I always use E10, I know some ppl say its false economy due to the reduced mileage, but I heard E10 already cleanses the fuel system. True or false?

    • I heard Shell add such thing in V-Power, and BP might add to all grades, but E10 itself does no cleansing if not damaging.
Anyway I use E10, it's cheaper and I found less difference on kpl from my old car than other people claimed.

    • +1

One of the criticisms of E10 that I read was that it could free up gums and other deposits in your fuel tank, so it supports the theory that it's a solvent that can keep your fuel system clean. Ethanol is a great multi purpose solvent anyway (as is petrol itself). I suspect only the sickest fuel systems would benefit from a fuel injector cleaner.

  • This might be worth it to drive 15 kms for.

    • +1

Call first might be sold out when you get there :(

  • I've always had doubts about the effectiveness of fuel injector cleaner

  • ill guzzle down a bottle, me guts need a clean out

  • -ve from me. No stock in Blacktown store for this or even for the oil on the front page of their catalogue. No idea if and when they will get more stock in and worse part is would not give a rain check, asked me to go to nearest store and check if they have it.

    snake oil for cars..nice

  • for older cars it would come in handy, but newer cars, just use 95 or 98 octane fuel and only synthetic engine oil and you will be alright. this is assuming your driving a relatively new car (2005 onwards)

  • Is it just me or does it look like a bong?

    • +2

It's just you. Maybe you should try to cut down a bit.

  • Plenty of bottles of both the $1.99 cleaner and cheap oil at the NSW Lake Haven branch. I got 6 bottles, probably cover me for next 2 years.

  • +1

BARGAIN! I'll buy a couple.. even if it does nothing for the car it's still a bargain so i have to buy!

  • Would this make my car goes zoom zoom?
