this is a good price for the zoom fly.

ps: zoom fly only has half length of the carbonfibre plate.

    • +3

It has the full length carbon fibre plate (same as the Vaporfly 4%). It just doesn't have the ZoomX foam.

Zoom fly Flyknit is great for training, and Vaporfly 4% is great for race day.

      • +2

Might get downvoted but I’ll ask

Where does Nike react fit In there

        • Zoom fly Flyknit has the React foam instead of the ZoomX foam found in the Vaporfly 4% Flyknit.

          What's the difference? No idea!

          From Nike Read more:
          Benefits
          Flyknit upper provides lightweight breathability.
Fusible yarns create zones of structure and support without adding weight.
Full-length carbon-fibre plate is the same plate used in the Vaporfly 4%.
Nike React technology delivers a smooth, responsive ride.
Traction pattern uses different shapes and sizes for stability and propulsion off the ground.

          • @slimsnorlax: Thank you both

So I’m wearing Nike epic react

That’s has Flyknit stitching I believe

            Confusing naming convention

            • @YLD1: @YLD1 there's a epic react and the newer model of epic react flyknit. The Flyknit is just the upper part of the shoe that wraps around the top of your foot

whoever negged me on this post, see for yourself the tear down of zoom fly, which showed it has only half length carbon nylon plate.

      https://youtu.be/lixRKIvm-vw

unless you can find a tear down video of zoon fly fk, i don't think there is any difference zf VS zf fk.

      • The zoom fly and zoom fly Flyknit are completely different shoes.

The zoom fly only has a "carbon-infused nylon plate inspired by the VaporFly 4%".

Whilst the zoom fly Flyknit has "Full-length carbon-fibre plate is the same plate used in the Vaporfly 4%."

      • How many HP do we lose from only half carbon nylon?

      • +1

Firstly did you watch the whole video? The guy made a mistake, the nylon plate extended past where he cut it.

Secondly, the zoom fly flyknit is a second generation shoe with a carbon plate rather than the original zoom fly (and sp) which only had carbon infused nylon plate.

Thirdly, maybe you are right that the carbon plate in the zoom fly and the 4% are not exactly the same - I read one review in which the reviewer thought that the plate in the zoom fly might be thinner.

these are great running shoes, but isn't for everyone.

    i) This shoe has 0 flexibility, due to the carbon plate. This forces you to get on your forefoot when running. (heel strikers might feel werid)
ii) High stack height combined with 10mm offset makes it unstable for some.
iii) Some people (myself included) have trouble locking down the heel, due to lack of extra lace holes.
iv) I personally don't like flyknit material on running shoes.

Good for Tempo runs and marathon paced long runs as these have the same geometry as the vaporfly 4%, I train in these and race in the 4%.

at 138 it's a great buy, but the zoomfly 3 will be out soon with i think the vaporweave upper (same as the next%).

    • Great summary, kai990.
These are still discounted, surprisingly, and I recommend reading a selection of reviews to se if this fast tempo trainer / lower-price cushioned racing shoe is what you need.

On my first 10k run in this shoe, doing the exact same run as usual, I reduced my typical run time from 52min to 50.something and felt my feet were still lighter at the end of the run, so less fatigue and more potential to push a bit harder.

No pain the next day (today) , which is a nice surprise!

Here is one of my preferred reviews. A bit long, but it notes you will feel you can run a bit faster and the shoe is surprisingly durable. Enjoy!

  • Zoom Fly 3 was released for the US a couple of days ago. Indeed it has a vaporweave upper - it's upper refinements get the most coverage and better water resistance during wet runs.
Zoom Fly 3 details here but no reviews yet: https://www.runnersworld.com/gear/amp27892763/nike-air-zoom-…

Meanwhile this Zoom Fly Flyknit a great fast tempo training shoe) is still on sale at $138 if you choose the blue colourway.

  • Have these gone up in price? all colours showing as $160…
