  • Single use plastic bags… Aren't they bad for the environment?

    • +2

They are. But choosing between our sanity and the environment, we chose sanity for now. I do agree though that whenever possible, let us avoid single-use plastics

People's priorities. Telling lactating women how to feed their kids, won't give up a hamburger themselves.

  • We used these whilst my wife was pumping as they are considerably cheaper than the Medela bags, have a better seal and also lay flat for easier storage.

But now that we are defrosting them we are finding alot of them have a leak in the bag so we need to be careful when we are defrosting them.

    • We have been using this for almost a year now and very rarely, if ever, do they leak. Do they leak in the resealable part or in other parts? We have a freezer compartment just for these bags so maybe that is why we're a bit lucky about leaks

      • They don't leak from the seals, they are random pin holes else where.
We freeze them laying flat then put them in the deep freezer

        • We do the same thing but haven't had the same issue. The only thing I can think to suggest it to ensure the bag is completely dry so that it does not stick to the freezer. But I am sure you know that so maybe just luck of the draw

    • Some of ours used to leak when defrosting until a friend pointed out that I was over filling the bags which will split the seals while freezing.
We now put them in a zip lock bag when defrosting to catch any spilt milk.

  • +2

I've been using ziplock bags. Works just as well.

    • Yup, as did I. But I spent extra on those fancier ones with the double seal.

    • If you want to donate the milk in the future milk banks won't take it. But it's fine for private use.

  • Coming up at $8.99 for me, using above link :(
