Best time to book: Sydney to Christchurch, Jan 4-12 2020

Hi,

I'm planning a trip to Christchurch in January 2020.

I'm wondering when I should book flights. Will I save money by booking earlier, or will I miss out on potential sale fares in the future? I'm looking to fly out on 4 January 2019 and return on the 12th.

Currently I'm looking at a Qantas sale fare from Sydney for $380 which seems pretty good, and return fare with Air New Zealand around $300.

If I wait will I save money, or will it get more expensive? I find it hard to imagine there will be many sales for fares from 4 January…

    If I was you I would book definitely some time before January 4 2020

    ~$300 w/ air NZ is good. book it

    The sales will exclude that period. At least you can relax.

    Buy now - really unlikely it will drop lower, and as the classes fill up (which they're going to over that time) it's going to get very expensive
