My first post, so be kind.

I was at Harvey Norman Garden City yesterday and was looking at the Acer tablet which is selling at $527 on their website. HN is having 20% off storewide which means the price is dropped down to $422. Officeworks will match any competitor (including sale items) by 5%, making it as cheap as $400.9! However, since today is the last day of HN 20% storewide sale, you will have only today to buy this from Officework!

Btw, from what I have read, the Acer tablet is the ONLY tablet in the market with a USB host. That means you can connect a thumb drive, an ext HD and even a keyboard to it! Note that u would have to download a file browser app from MarketPlace in order to read contents from your thumb drive though.

          it did work, and I think at that price, it is worth it. I will get the GST refund on it anyway, so would end up being around 364!!

      Officeworks isn't retailing it for this price. You would have to pricematch it against the Harvey Norman price of $422

    The page has disappeared from the HN website. Did anyone manage to find a store that would do it for $422? My local HN is selling them full price so the discount only comes down to $467. Would be great if someone could post a receipt so I could try and get the cheaper price when I head to OW in a few minutes??

      I tried doing the same thing when I bought mine using a copy of a receipt from another forum, didn't matter, the OW salesguy said that their policy is to call the other store and verify stock and price.

        In my experience, OW are real ball breakers when it comes to price matching.

      &%$#*! I was just in Clayton! Thanks for the receipt. I'm glad it's in Vic, as I've had OW turn me down on a price match, for another OW, just because copy of the receipt was from NSW.

      Too late now, most stores would be closed now. Pity OW wasn't partner to the AMEX $50 rebate. Then the final price would have been $350!!!!

    These new honeycomb tablets with 3G seems can't make calls anymore like Galaxy Tab. Unless you manage to flash the radio and I'm not sure if you have a dialer available for honycomb.
    Personally for me having 3G builtin is most important,share internet via wifi hotspot is just making more troubles, somewhat wasting time not to mention the phones battery problem.
    2nd is the weight, 730g is too heavy for me but might be good if you are big guy. I'm very happy to pay a premium and carry a tablet that is 10' or 12' if they are lighter than the current average (730g ~ 595g).

    Well, doesn't seem like my Officeworks will do it for me. 2 reasons;
    1. They wont price match an Officeworks receipt.
    2. Harvey Normans pre-discount price is $527. OW in store price is $525 (even though it says $527 on the website). He says they can't price match because they were cheaper than HN before the 20% discount is applied…

    He is going to call me back, but I think I will miss out.
    :(

    Just a heads up: The Asus Transformer 16GB can be bought (including shipping) for a tad over $400 from Amazon.com. Amazon.com ships directly to Australia (no need for mail forwarding etc) and Asus provides an international warranty. More info here:

    I went to office works @ auburn and they sold me 3 @ a little over $400. Friend went to the villawood one and had a very hard time. But still got it in the end.

      Plus they wouldn't pricematch non region shops-Harvey norman Auburn didn't have stock but moore park, north ryde and mount druitt defintely did

    I'm interested in getting a tablet, but don't know which and when. So undecided about what I want. There are even rumours of a quadcore Amazon tablet later in the year. But at this rate I'm just driving around the roundabout in circles over and over again without deciding which exit to take :(

    I might wait for the 3G version, A501 I think. I only want to carry one device and I think that pocket wifi or mifi and such have too short a battery life. Definitely not wifi hotspotting my iPhone, it's on the Voda network :(

    I missed the $401 price - however Harvey Norman in Gordon priced it yesterday for $452, take it it Officeworks and they beat it 5% so got it for $429. Didn't do too badly after all seeing as JB and Dymocks are currently selling for $526 :)
