Has anyone else had problems redeeming their scoopon vouchers at Lezzet restaurant in Brighton, Vic.
We tried to make a reservation at the restaurant numerous times during March, April & May but every time we mentioned that we had a Scoopon voucher, we were told they didn't have availability as the restaurant was fully booked..
The last time I tried to make a booking, my sister (who also had a voucher) called the restaurant on the 5th of May to try and make a reservation for the 7th of May (15 days prior to the voucher expiry) and was advised the restaurant was fully booked. An hour or so later, I called and didn't mention that I had a Scoopon voucher. (there is no mention on the voucher that you must advise this at the time of booking). Surprisingly ..I was able to make a reservation, for the same date and time my sister had requested. I called them back the following morning to advise that I had a voucher and they told me that they were not able to offer the reservation to anyone holding a Scoopon voucher. After trying to convince the staff to accept the booking/voucher, they put me onto the manager who said that they would not accept the voucher and I would need to contact Scoopon for a refund.
I emailed Scoopon immediately, but in error I used a different email address to the one I had used as my registration for Scoopon. I received a response saying that due to privacy they could not private me information ,as the email I listed wasn't the registered email address (which is understandable)..I have since emailed them the query again, but received the following response from Frank at Scoopon:
Customers as individuals are held responsible for the use of their Scoopon and it is considered unreasonable to expect a booking within the last 7 - 14 days of a 6 - 12 month redemption period. At this stage, having a very limited time left in the validity period, we are not obliged to refund your purchase due to your inability to redeem your Scoopon in line with our terms and conditions
As Scoopon are not directly involved with the redemption process, we are not accountable for the unavailability of the Restaurant in the final weeks.
I replied and made a reference to the original email sent on May 7th, but again received a similar response from Scoopon.
My sister had contacted Scoopon and advised of the problem and has received a cheque refund.
This voucher has now expired on the 22nd of May.
Does anyone have any advise???
Yeah don't use Scoopon. It only makes Jamie Packer richer.
