Great reviews. I believe this is the cheapest it has ever been on the Switch.

Have been waiting for this to go on sale since I bought my Switch last year. Nice find!

This version has co op. Must have.

For PC users: Shovel Knight is half price on Steam too @ $17.99.

Local co op is available on PC, and if you get creative you can work out online co op with some third party help.

  • Do they still have another episode coming for the game? King Of Cards?

Love how they kept updating with new content well after original release.

Apparently this is getting a price increase when they release the final chapter and game mode (Showdown - smash bros style brawler) as well as coinciding with the physical release (will be the same price for physical and digital).

Apparently the US price will go from $24.99USD to $39.99USD! So the game will probably go up to $45-$50 in Australia!

So you should probably get in now, if you want this game!

  • Looks like a great game, and great price, Cheers OP!

How does this compare to Hollow Knight in terms of difficulty?

    • +1

I would say easier, but potentially more because you play through 'levels' so worked better for me in a pick up / put down play style. There were some bosses and levels that I did have to put down and come back to though after letting my hands recover.

Had this on PC for a long time and was always on my list to get back to, one of my favorite switch games.

Found shovel knight easier as I've finished the shovel, spectre and plague (latter two being DLC that comes with treasure trove).

As for Hollow Knight, I've been stuck on Soul Sanctum area for quite a while.

    • uh oh I just bought bc I thought it was hollow knight. How is this game compared to hollow knight lol

    • HK is a much smoother game. SK follows the traditional form of platform pattern of pitfall > pattern + enemy > pitfall, and pitfall means instant death.

So everything is easy if you just slow downed a bit, but you get you'll still get a few deaths trying to get past certain pitfalls. Your hitboxes are a bit small too, so it can make certain bosses frustrating.

It's still a good game, just that the design language is a bit outdated.

  • Thanks OP

Is this game too hard? I've gone soft in my old age.

    • Mate I can totally relate to that… these days I'll get lost in an RPG or get stuck on a boss fight. Never used to happen when I was younger… must be the old age

  • Nice. Still unsure whether to jump on this or grab the physical. Know I'll pay 3x as much for the privilege, but I've been holding out for physical so long at this point.

  • This game is awesome

  • Same price on Xbox online as well btw.

    • They are doing all platforms special

  • Thanks OP, was actually going to avoid this but after some investigation it seems to be a lot of people's favourite game ever, so why not.

  • Hasn't planned on buying, but the great comments here and the price going up after new DLC swayed me. Thanks
