15" i7 version of this laptop
Actually this only has a 128GB SSD instead of the 256GB that the first 17" deal has.
Edit: They all only seem to have 128GB SSD (apart from the one specifically 512GB)
If you're spending $1800 on a laptop, definitely pay the extra $60 for the i7.
Edit: Title needs to be updated, $80 difference. But still worth paying that for better cpu
Updated, thanks.
Crap screen for gaming at the low end here, better off looking at 1660Ti models with Ryzen CPUs and nice screens for around $1400, starting with the ASUS TUF models.
link?
Nice! What's the $19 difference for? They seem to have the same specs and model number too.
And I still don't know how I feel about AMD mobile processors though. Always been an Intel fan. Are there any 1660Ti GPUs with Intel CPUs?
What's the $19 difference for?
Oh nevermind they're different sellers. $19 more for Wireless 1 hmm.
@CVonC: For all typical intents and purposes, you can consider this equivalent to an i5-8300H CPU, just with a lower peak power draw and a superior iGPU.
Check benchmarks if you have any highly specific use cases or games, but otherwise this a combo that should max out the laptop screen in use on high settings in games (note: not Ultra or Max settings, due to how downclocked the 1660ti is), and has room to overclock if you're willing to put up with a fan pad and fan noise.
equivalent to an i5-8300H CPU
Hmm the i5-8300H is ranked 69 where as the R7 3750H is 118 according to Notebookcheck. But then again that's still higher than my i7-4700HQ from four years ago lol
@CVonC: It's weaker in terms of single core performance, but not that much. For gaming purposes at 120Hz, it should be really smooth.
I feel this is a good laptop. Is there anywhere in Australia where they have it on display?
@ar7ist: It's a brand new model, I'd recommend checking stores online or calling ahead to ensure they've got stock of it, and at least a similar model on display so you can check out the screen.
How many Hz screen is this? Doesnt say
60Hz I believe. It does say Fierce, flicker-free visuals come alive with optional 144Hz display in the description but not sure if it actually is.
What’s the difference in general between G5 and G7?
Just googled, G7 has better build quality and better cooling system.
G2
Pretty good price, but seems dell skimped out on the Panel refesh rate and no 1TB data drive.
Ahh well at least the NVMe drive is 512GB and the keyboard is RGB :P
I notice more laptops since I posted were added, sorry, my comment was to the 512 M.2 drive one
Does any one remember which one has the brushed alloy case? vs plastic base?
I recall a Youtube CES video where some dude said only one model has the alloy. (I think).
Hows the battery life of these in day to day use such as browsing, video streaming etc? Assuming games would only last 2 hours at most?
And how heavy are they
A good price - I got my 17" ASUS Rog Strix Scar II for 2.1k and I've heard good things about the G7.
