Help Deciding on Gaming PC Build Options from Techfast

Hi guys! My budget is around 900 AUD for the whole build including monitor etc.
I have found these deals on ebay however I'm torn on which build to choose.

  1. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ryzen-5-2600-GTX-1660-Ti-6GB-120…
  • In this build, I can upgrade to 1TB hard drive and 1 USB WiFi so I will be on 8GB RAM. Can I use this build purely on gaming?

  • In this build, I can upgrade to 1TB hard drive, 1 USB WiFi and have another 8GB RAM for a total of 16 GB Ram.

I want to play all the latest games at 1080P only. All suggestions are highly appreciated.
Thank you!

  • 2300X -> 2600
    1660 -> 1660TI

    Both of those for an extra $100? Worth it alone for the CPU tbh.

    You might be better off getting the Wifi card and HDD separate from Techfast. Unless you just want it all done so you can plug and play, in which case you can pay the premium for it.

    You'll easily get 60fps @ 1080 with this build. Some games might struggle with the highest settings, but not many.

    • Thanks for the quick feedback!My concern is the 8GB ram (1x8GB), can I play Apex Legends and the like using this?

      • RAM is very easy to upgrade, Techfast are offering to double the RAM (8 to 16) but at a cost of $116, it's quite obvious this is quite a bit more than if you were to do it yourself.

        These component upgrades:

        Extra storage
        Extra RAM
        Extra networking components

        are all places where Techfast make the most money from, so going the Do-it-yourself route can save you more money. Most people can handle plugging in a new HDD, USB wifi dongle or a stick of RAM..

        The motherboard upgrade from A350 to B350 is the only optional upgrade i would take. B350 boards have more features and they offer options for overclocking and possibly better support for newer generation CPU.

        • Thanks for this! I will follow your suggestion. However, I'm not sure how long can I afford to upgrade the RAM. Can I temporarily use the 8GB ram purely for gaming?

          • @beetle00: yes no problem

          • @beetle00: Yeah 8GB is plenty enough for most games. Battlefield V is the only game in my library that kind of struggles with having 8G.

          • @beetle00: The 8GB should be fine. A lot of people say that 16 is now the minimum but 8GB will only slow you down if you have a lot of things open. Chrome windows, youtube videos, downloading stuff, maybe another game.

            Luckily for you RAM is coming down in price. This time last year it was around $200 odd for a 16GB kit. They're now about $120 odd depending.

            Here's a video comparison of 8gb vs 16gb for Apex Legends. Looks the same to me.

            • @SnowDragon: Thank you! Regarding the USB WiFi, I did a quick search and found out that there are several types of USB WiFi. Which type should I buy?

  • +1

    When you can get 16GB of ram for $128 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/456527
    I don't think it is wise to add 8GB from techfast.

    Also, since you're new to ozbargain, just a reminder not to forget to use 15% off. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/456375

  • Thanks to all! I really appreciate all your suggestions, this site is wonderful!

    1. I will be going with this one, https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ryzen-5-2600-GTX-1660-Ti-6GB-120…
    • I will only upgrade the motherboard as suggested

    One last question, is the PSU safe or enough in this build?

    • I would buy 16gb ram, 1/2tb hdd as well and add by yourself.

    • 550W is enough for the build.

      Whether it's safe? Probably better off purchasing a reputable brand one for 80-100 if you want to be super safe.
