Please Recommend a Good Variable temperature (Digital?) Electric Kettle

I've looked at the older posts on site and it would seem that

(a) A "good" variable temperature kettle is hard to find. There are always instances of happy (lucky?) purchasers but on the whole models seem to be prone to failure and/or poor design - loud/fails/inconsistent/poor on-switch design etc etc.

(b) rightly or wrongly, since a near miss model was priced at $50 odd I feel a maximum of $80 should secure something that is user friendly and functional.

BUT I can't find what I am seeking.

Any assistance please…..or am I asking too much?

(and, yes I realise that non variable models are way cheaper but that's not what I want.)

A stay warm facility would be nice to have but not mandatory.

The Kmart brand one works well. Can recommend. Gets daily use in our work office.

    • +1 Kmart, we had a Breville smart one and now have the Kmart one, there's no discernible difference.

    • completely agree - we just bought the KMart one - glass and brushed metal etc, keep warm function works well.
The only thing is that once you have boiled or heated once, you have to push the button twice to get it to do what you want, the exception to this is if you have just plugged it in or lifted it off the base. I find you dont always get around to using the heated water straight away and sometimes you push the reboil, or a particular temp and you need to push twice.
also a very easy pop open lid to refill, some are just plain difficult.

  • Assume it's this one?

That's a great start, thanks pinchies.

  • https://www.kmart.com.au/product/1.7l-kettle-with-variable-t… here it is btw $59, though it says out of stock online

How much energy does the keep warm function use, would it cost a lot to keep it warm all day if the kettle is being turned on at least six times a day anyway.

Thanks AustriaBargain….wouldn't be using the keep warm function for hours at a time.

      • A timer function would be nice, so it’s ready when my alarm goes off. Or stays warm if I snooze.

  • I was gonna say Kmart brand too. Looks like Kmart is a winner choice here

  • Early days Lexan but certainly looks good.

    • My vote for this one as well, over 5 years of regular, daily service, didn't miss a beat.
That said, Kmart one looks nicer, would go for the glass one

  • We've had this one for a couple of years, no probs.

    • Yep we have this one too. The first one lasted about 2-3 years but it stopped working. Cuisinart did a warranty replacement (asked us to snip the cord, no need to return the kettle) which was straightforward and the replacement has now lasted about 4 years and still going. Probably need to replace it soon, but overall pretty happy with it. The all-metal construction is easy to clean

    • Thanks to 8 geeses……………but is it worth near triple the cost of the K_Mart one (add 10 for postage)….still if K-Mart have no stock….and there is a good by the sounds warranty.

  • I too got the Kmart one a good year ago now. It's great.
