So it’s plus taxes…
Points required (one way, per person)
Economy 35,000 points plus A$182*
Premium Economy 54,000 points plus A$257*
Business 72,000 points plus A$272*
First 108,000 points plus A$272*
Not terrible but it’s only a one way flight with the A380 the return uses a smaller plane so there might be a bit of difficulty getting a seat on the way back. https://www.ausbt.com.au/qantas-opens-up-an-entire-airbus-a3…
Think someone tried to post it as a deal earlier today and the thread title had tax amounts in addition to the points.
I believe it is just their normal cost for a one way redemption, but lots more availability than usual (although after all the articles, who knows).
I think there was a lot of unhappiness regarding the inability to redeem points, particularly for the lower tier members? Hopefully this should relieve congestion a lot
What would be the per dollar value of points on economy redeemed this way?
Return economy flights Melbourne to Tokyo (Narita) on Qantas are currently on special from $795 return around that date.
So ~$400 one way, less $182 in taxes, means you are getting $218 for 35k points, or .6c per point. Not great value IMO.
Thanks, that's not great value then
If it includes taxes those are pretty reasonable prices. Plus you’d assume availability would be great.
That said spending 10 hours stuck in a tube with the kind of people who would be excited about a QFF only flight would probably cause me to have a meltdown…
