Yes, its the HMD only. Needs controllers & base stations.
This is super tempting. I already have the full VR setup for existing Vive. I wouldn't mind upgrading the HMD for some extra resolution.
One just sold 2nd-hand on Ebay last night for $790 ($770 + $20 delivery). Anyway, just bought mine.
Is it worth waiting for the Valve Index to ship?
Thats the 64 million dollar question isnt it. OLED now, or LCD later?
Probably, Maybe? It's going to be better, but no idea when that will be available in Aus :(
Yeap, if you want the highest res OLED, thats not StarVR/XTAL, this is it. Trigger pulled.
How are the pixel counted on the OLED, true RGB or penile RGBG?
StarVR and XTAL are both a million times better…. But at about 5 times the price.
Will this be driven nicely by 1070?
Depends what you plan to do in VR. In my experience I would say its ok for the lighter games but more intense titles will struggle.

Some titles sure. YMMV. My 1080 can struggle at times with the standard Vive depending on super sampling amount and game.
Even my 1080 Ti can struggle if I turn everything to max on some games.
Even my 2080ti…
