SchooBuy.com.au - Make Money for Your Child's School

The idea is simple. SchoolBuy has partnered with 300+ online stores, including great brands like Apple, Dell, Vodafone, iinet, Dick Smith and many more. Every time you shop online with one of these stores, a financial contribution is generated for the school of your choice. So you can buy what you would buy anyway, but help your school at the same time!

All it takes is a click. When shopping online, just visit SchoolBuy first and nominate the school you would like to support. Then simply click the logo of the online store you would like to visit. That click will let that store know that SchoolBuy referred you and which school you want to support. It's fast and easy!

Millions of products. Seriously. There are literally millions of products that you can buy through SchoolBuy that will support your school. There is something for everyone - and usually a lot more than just one thing. Half the fun is searching through the partner stores and seeing what products are available through SchoolBuy. The other half of the fun comes from ordering your products, knowing that you're doing good and helping your school.

Make a difference. SchoolBuy gives you the opportunity to make a difference. The money you can help raise will fund real projects that enhance the education of real Australian kids. Some purchases will generate a small contribution and some will generate a large contribution - but they are all important. Across thousands of schools and hundreds of thousands of purchases, every single one counts. It requires a special person to make a difference - and that person is you.

Don't just buy it - SchoolBuy it! People are shopping online every day - so they might as well do it through SchoolBuy and support your school! Thanks for spreading the word.

  • So it's sort of like Buckscoop or Moneybackco but instead of you getting your money, it is going straight to a charity. Interesting. I'd like to know how much overhead they are taking (if any) for the deals.

  • Just looked it up. 2.1% of Dell sales go to schoolbuy vs. 7% back to you for moneybackco. Better off just using moneybackco or similar and donating it straight to the school. It appears Schoolbuy is taking 4.9% of each dell transaction for themselves. Link, http://www.schoolbuy.com.au/

    • I think MoneyBackCo has negotiated a very good rate with Dell due to the volume of its sales. Normally Dell pays out only 3% so SchoolBuy effectively gives out 70% of the revenue (in the case of Dell). That's pretty good effort comparing to some "charity" organisations.

But yeah, if people want to give, then it's best to give direct and go through least number of hops as possible.

      • Spot on Scotty. We'll have a chat to Dell and see what we can get - we've had a relationship with them for a few years on some other sites too, so hopefully we can get it bumped up for SchoolBuy. Our aim is to pass on as much to schools as we can - and schools have been really happy thus far.

We don't want to replace people's regular giving to charities and schools - just augment it in a different way and help where we can :)

Surely there should be a schoolgurl.com.au as well? :)

Already made my contribution to the 'education' (and I use that term loosely) system!

    • You mean you sued the government? Or did you bully Wendell Sailor?

      • I sued the government

    Hi guys,
I'm one of the founders at SchoolBuy. I saw in analytics some traffic from this page so I thought I'd say hi and clarify a few things. Firstly, thanks for posting about us mattypoika - any spreading of the word is much appreciated and will help schools raise money faster.

Secondly, in order to fund our operations we contemplated having an annual fee for schools but decided against this. We thought it was a better win-win to take a smaller percentage any time a sale comes through the site and a school raises money. That way there wouldn't be any financial objections for schools to join, especially schools in poorer areas who really need the money for extra resources. Last week I met with a school for kids with learning difficulties that is trying to raise $100k for interactive whiteboards - so anything we can help with is important.

Thirdly, I think it's pretty apparent that we need to work out a better deal with Dell!! Thanks for highlighting that Neil :) We contribute the majority of our revenue to schools - currently 70% goes directly to schools with a further portion allocated for marketing. As we grow and become successful we hope to channel even more through to the schools.

I have looked on MoneybackCo and we seem to have similar deals with most companies to them, with Dell being the obvious exception which I am going to chase up today. So if you have a school to support, I hope you'd consider using SchoolBuy where your donation will go straight to the school of your choice without any hassles. Any feedback or questions are welcome. If you want to keep in touch with what we're doing, please join our email newsletter which gets sent a few times per month.

    Cheers,

    Luke

    • @luke — thanks for coming by. Yes MoneyBackCo and some other cashback sites have organised a better rate with the upstream affiliation company. I guess they can do it due to volume.

All the best with your venture.

      • Thanks very much! I'll have to come by more often - seems like a great community.

  • This is pretty cool. Since I'm IT at three schools I should probably link to their profiles on our website.

With school funds we will never have enough money for Interactive Whiteboards in all classes :(

    • @samfisher5986 - sounds like a great fit! Drop me line at luke [at] schoolbuy.com.au - we can get your 3 schools registered and we have some marketing resources you can use to link to us if you want.
