Hello everyone!

Been planning to build my first Gaming / Editig PC using Computer Alliance 20% off deal and stacking it with Woolworths ebay gift card.

Here are the components I came up with

Any comments / suggestion would be welcome.

    • Thank you will check into this…

    • Cooler masters 650w MWE unit would be good, comes in at about $100 I think.

im not seeing the value in it.
its a RGB princess more than an actual workhorse tbh
do you really need RGB LEDS in your PSU, CASE, RAM, COOLER AND AN LED STRIP??

RGB is life! building rgb is my childhood dream. Joking aside, just want to make it as fancy as possible.

    Noice, that's a lottta RGB.

Have you got an rgb mouse. keyboard, mousepad and chair to go with it?

    That's my only suggestion

    • Thanks! Gotta find good deals on peripherals now :)

  • Can get 2080Ti build from Techfast for cheaper than that …

inb4, lousy parts blowing up soon after, yeah nah.

    • You are not wrong, Techfast deal might be more "Ozb" tbh. Just want to make it as fancy as possible since this is my first build.

      Thank you for your guidance

      • So to be clear you want to pay more for a slower computer with lights.

        • plus better components

    • It's the OzB way, but there's something to be said about picking your own parts and tailoring it to look how you want.

  • get an ambilight off aliexpress for the back of your monitor.

and some yellow tinted gaming glasses to protect your eyes from the LED burn.

If you want to sync all those leds and control with 1 software maybe check they’re addressable (ARGB) and controllable by your mobo

A "white" rated PSU is just a 80+ PSU, so a bronze or gold will be more efficient (and translate to lower power bills in probably an extremely unnoticeable way), but doesn't necessarily mean that a bronze or gold PSU is more reliable. Typically a gold rated PSU is considered a decent choice for a medium to high end gaming PC though.

Your PC is fine as you've configured it.

Building or configuring your own PC is supposed to be about not conforming to what someone else has decided is suitable, so as long as you aren't configuring something that's incompatible, don't worry about what others think and go ahead with your build. If lights are appealing to you, then deck your build out with lights! Ensure you can turn them off if you feel like they may get annoying (if in your bedroom and you want to sleep with it on, or watch a movie, etc).

Doubt you'd need more performance than a 2080 can provide, so don't even stress about not having a 2080Ti. If you change your mind in 3 years, easy upgrade. :)

Stuff all the people here calling you out for having your own likes. You do you buddy. Best of luck, and enjoy.

    • Thanks mate! This comments makes me more wanting to build it. Will definitely check into that gold rated psu.

CPU - Nice CPU. Excellent value

MoBo - Should be a good choice. I think the Asrock Taiche (that is definitely not spelt right) will probably be the best choice, but you'd be losing out on the rgb syncing with the GPU and I honestly don't even know if comp alliance sells them anyway.

    RAM - Should be good.

Storage - So long as your workload properly utilises NVME, excellent choice. If not just go with the regular 860.

Graphics card - Definitely cheaper 2080s, but if you're fine with the price trade off for the looks it's a fine card tmk. Should be a great cooler unless they cheaped out on thermal pads again…

Case - Check reviews for that case. Looks to have a glass front pannel which triggers me, but if you're fine with a thermal trade-off it should be fine.

Power Supply - Pick up a better one, something like the coolermaster 650w mwe should do. You'll know based off the comments to this post if that suggestion is bad, but I haven't seen anything to make me think it isn't good.

Thank you! Had ordered these today and definitely changed the psu with a gold rated one.
