Sensibo Sky - Make Air Conditioner Smart

Hey guys,

Recently got a google home mini and hub and starting to get all my devices smart. I've heard Sensibo Sky is a good one to turn air conditioners smart and Sensibo is better than Broadlink RM Pro as it has more control, but it's almost 3-4 times more expensive.

Goodguys have it at $159 but older ozbargain threads show it goes down to 20-30% off. I don't use ebay often and have seen regular ebay discounts. Can anyone find me a bargain? Thanks!

  • They are a great little unit. I have two of them now to control our Fujitsu splits and they work flawlessly. Can set timers or react to room temps. I have a referral code from Sensible which brings them down to $US98 delivered but if you wait for a good guys sale you will get a better price. If you do want the code just let me know

    • Is that mailed in from the US and from their official site? Any idea how long it takes to receive? Yeah feel free to send me a referral code. Don't mind paying a little bit more as I want it sooner rather than later.

  • I've have one for a while that controls my Daikin split system, it's been brilliant. I also have have it connected up with google home and works with no issues. I love being able to turn the AC on remotely on hot days, I can track live temps and never come home from work to a hot house. I highly recommend it.

  • Just set up a search alert on here for them and wait. Can definitely get them cheaper.

You mentioned the Broadlink already which is actually what I'd recommend over Sensibo, because you can set it up as a universal remote for any other IR devices in the room too - especially useful for AC in the lounge room as you can control your entire entertainment system from one device. I believe you can also control it using IFTTT with Weather Underground so that you can have automated controls based on local temperature too.

The other option that many tech enthusiasts already have in their home which can also be used is a Logitech Harmony Hub as it's just an IR blaster and the Harmony software was updated a while ago to support many more smart home devices including air conditioners.

    • I was considering the Broadlink as I think it's bang for buck and can be used for more features. The only reason I'm leaning towards the Sensibo is because I read that if the Sensibo is placed in the right spot, it can capture the IR presses from the manual remote, so it'll understand the "status" of the air conditioner if it's on or off. Being able to detect room temperature was also another reason.

I'll look into the logitech harmony hub, haven't researched into it. Cheers!

This thread triggered my search alert :P

I currently have two and they are awesome. I'm looking to get a third.

They definitely have the potential to be better though. e.g. temperature history should be accessible from the app. IR isn't as flexible as a normal remote (need to position the Sensibo correctly).

  • i got a cheaper one from amazon. Works great. has it's own app that links to google assistant. paid 30 bucks or something, can't remember the name.

  • Kogan have it for $139 with free shipping.

  • How does this work? Can it make any split air cons smart?

I'm not enitrely sure how the whole concept works. Say if you have a really old split air con, will it work on that? Or do you need one with some sort of wifi capabilities?

    • Should work on any with a remote. The device receives the commands via Wi-Fi and transmits to the aircon via infrared signals.

  • Do I just need a Sensibo Sky to control my Daikin, or do I need Amazon Echo & Google Home as well?

Sensibo has its own App and functionality without needing Amazon or Google, if you want voice activated control that is when you need those.

      • Thank you for your reply
Voice activated is no good if your not home :p
Some people need to be voice activated :)
