Cheap usb modem for telstra prepaid broadband

Hey Guys,

Love the site.

Anyway, I had mobile broadband with 3 and as everyone knows they suck.

So picked up a $30 start up kit for $10 from coles and planned to use that ezyrecharge offer to add another 10 gig on my prepaid plan.

Have activated sim, and unlocked my usb modem (huawei e122) successfully but now found it doesnt work with telstra prepaid :(

So after a cheap but decent modem that will work with telstra prepaid.

Have looked on ebay, but nothing looks like good value when you can see some deals on here for usb modem for less than $50 that includes a couple of gigs data.

Obviously only after usb modem if possible.

    Your Huawei should work with telstra once unlocked. You just need to go into the settings of your modem and change the APN settings to telstras settings. The Setup of the E122 data card is very easy once you have installed the Mobile Partner software you just need to go to the Tools >> Options >> Profile Management Under that create a new APN profile. On my blog I have APN settings for all the australian networks. Long story short you shouldnt have to buy one now thats a bargain!!

    I got a funny feeling that E122 does not do 850Mhz for NextG.
    That needs to be confirmed.
    Although it will do 2100Mhz on the older telstra network which not as good as NextG

      Yeah your probably right but it should technically work but just not as fast

    Thanks guys for your replies I really appreciate it. Yeah did some research after I posted this and updated the firmware and apn settings and its working. Will I see dramatic improvement if I go for one that supports 850mhz?
