  Reasonably good dashcam, but the Blackview Android app has a few issues with talking to the unit, seems to affect many users.
  Having a rear is great, and having it in 1080p even better.

      hard wired Parking mode can be easily set up yourself if you buy the kit.. super easy instructions to follow :)

    I've been installing my dash cams on two of my cars.

    The tricky part for hardwiring is finding the right fuse to tap for a constant 12v.

    The rest of the fun is hiding the cables, and DO NOT run the cables where it could affect your airbags (i.e. A-Pillars, etc)

      Easy on popular models.

      Do not attempt on newer Porsches. You'll get an error code (PITA to erase) as soon as you add any draw to the fuse box. No way to bypass without adding in a defeat module to the fuse box.

          @tdw: Funny you should mention the 996.

          996 is okay (well, at least in this regard. Avoid the non turbo models unless cheap enough to justify IMS replacement.)

  I bought the DOD-500RS and it's comparable. Amazing video quality, excellent specs just like the Blackvue only the Blackvue records 10sec before an incident when in parking mode which is awesome. Both have awesome night vision, number plate recognition driving at fast speeds. This Blackvue is an excellent price.

  Agreed that the app is woeful. The DOD app is worse than what a 5 year old could develop but I traded the app off for awesome tech hardware. I don't use the app unless I need to update the firmware. You can pop out the microSD card and plug it into your laptop to access the video if you need it, same with the Blackvue.

  I installed the parking assist myself. It's an easy job. Problem is that the automatic cut off cuts out after a few hours so the car battery doesn't drain. This defeats the purpose of the unit. I bought the power-magic so I might buy the Blackvue power assist pack and give that a go.

    I've honestly never had an issue with the app. I've got the camera connected to a hotspot in the car so I can use the cloud features on the app and it's great. Handy having impact detection notifications during parking mode.

  I got this model when I bought my new car (so I didn't install it myself). But it's a great little camera. The view at night is really clear.
