So.. there's been a trend thats been going on for a while now, where things are being repackaged in more 'convenient' forms, at upwards of 5x the price.
I don't subscribe much to it myself, but its fine, I ignore it. As long as I can keep buying the regular stuff I'm not bothered.
However, the next step for supermarkets seems to be cutting out the cheaper option. This has been especially pronounced with dishwashing powder, where you used to be able to buy homebrand powder, 1kg for $2. Neither coles nor Woolworths are selling these anymore.
Coincidence? Possibly, but when they both now sell the exact same thing, except now in a plastic jug for twice the price, I have my doubts.

Anyway, I thought about it, and Coles and WW can't be the only ones who sell such things. There must be places, stores that cater to the hospitality industry, that sell things like dishwashing and laundry powder in bulk, so it might be time to start stocking up.
Does anyone do the bulk purchase thing? Any good places around Melbourne that you could share?
Isn't this part of Costco's business model?
