LG 21:9 2560x1080 75 Hz UltraWide FreeSync Monitor 25UM58-P 25" $189, 29WK500-P 29" $219 (Sold Out) (+ Freight) @ Kogan

770

One of the cheapest price I've seen for the 29" model. Not sure about the 25" one but seems pretty good.

25" is little small for ultrawide monitors so I would personally recommend the 29" one.

Once you go Ultra Wide, you never go back…

    • +1

I disagree with you. I have ultrawide 25" one and it's not practical to use it for everyday tasks, even for watching movie. My Netflix movies shrink and too much black sides. I would go back to normal monitor anyday

      • +3

There's actually a pretty good chrome extension I use that allows 21:9 Netflix content to fit the full screen on an ultra-wide, as by default it always boxes in. I believe the Windows 10 Netflix app also supports ultra-wide on a lot of content. It works best for movies, as most television shows aren't shot in a suitable resolution.

        • +1

thanks for letting me know. Beside that, browsing websites or everyday tasks, it's not comfortable for me as it's too small, full HD on 25" widescreen, it's like on 20-21" wide screen, it's only good for watching some already wide screen format movies

Negged voters, this is my opinion after using the screen for at least 5 years. If you disagree, just go on with your choice. I really hate rude people left negged without saying anything.

          • +2

            @ntt: Perhaps try a 29". I can't imagine going back to non-ultrawide ever.

            • -1

@BlueSkyAPI: 29" might be different, but I also need a bigger desk too

              • @ntt: Netflix TV series are 16:9 so yes there will be black sides, however you benefit from having no black bars when watching movies which are predominantly 21:9. I suppose if you only watch only TV content but not movies then the use case makes sense to stick with 16:9.

        • google chrome is a botnet

          • @joeflacco: my whole PC and cracked softwares are botnet community already lol

    • I need one for multiple pages (ie, from different books)
& for multiple videos or images (fr diff sources).

Does its drivers provide that kind of Non-Game functionality?

Any other deals on the 29” model?

      Tnx

PS Where is PostCode list for Kogan FIRST?

  • So hard to find a monitor with vesa mount and downward facing cable connection. Can't really wall mount it against the wall

  • +1

in before "1080P is too low a resolution for a 29 inch screen!"

    • I am fine with my LG 34" Ultrawide but curve would be better and I don't mind higher resolutions but too much more.

    • +1

Haha. That is not true. It is as perfect as fhd to 23inch.

    • Agree, when I develop with terminal in this monitor,I could see the pixel in the edge When I look the any word in MacBook terminal, even the resolution set the 2560.Addition,Macbook Pro couldn’t support to 75HZ ,only 60 HZ is work on mine. It”s still a brilliant monitor if you want a budget setup.

  • 29' one is tempting. Has anyone actually used it and found it good?

    • +2

      i have one right now
Super good for multitasking when doing work.
Can fit like 3 applications when doing engineering graphics works and other stuff

      • thanks!!

      • what are the "other stuff" ??? something more interesting than engineering stuff?

        • Just imagine if your regular screen was 33% wider.

    • +3

I have a 29" 21:9 monitor as a second monitor (mounted above my main monitor) and find it a really useful aspect ratio. IMO don't look at it as one long extra wide monitor but rather two square screens (each 1280x1080) side-by-side - They are perfect for 2nd and 3rd applications or a couple of browser windows. Using the window key + arrow keys to move windows around makes it super simple to fill each half with content.

      • thanks for sharing your experience!

      • Say I have 3 applications I want to have open on one screen, is there some easy way to open them all in equally-sized windows?

        • +3

With 3 windows open, right-click on your taskbar at the bottom and select show windows side by side.

        • +1

I use Display fusion to manage my 5720*1080 setup. Allows quick shortcut keys to manage windows and create different windows sizes to maximise applications inside of.

      • I've been using 2x22" 1680x1050 since new. ERGH, stuck between maybe 32" 4K, and something like this. I know I'll miss the best & worst parts of dual screens.

This model just might be perfect. It's all in one… instead of SOME tasks (ie: games) only seeing one. (if that makes sense).

    • I did have panel replaced after one year (one year warranty) but msy did it without charge. I don't think the build quality is as good actually…and I have a positive impression of lg TV's. however it is good price, excellent to use…the 2560 x 1080 is a marked improvement imo. I like the 21:9 for supported games…more immersive.

    • 29 foot is MASSIVE

  • That's a great price for the 29WK500-P. I bought it a few weeks ago off MSY for 255 and that was the cheapest by far.

  • It says "Flicker safe" but doesn't specify if it uses PWM. Probably not flicker-free :(

  • damn so tempted. 2 of these on my study room that is my dream

  • Anyone give any insight whether to go 29" or 34" ultrawide?

    • +1

29 for 1080 gaming, 34 for 1440. You can't/shouldn't really do 1080 at 34. I've had a 29 ultrawide for over a year now and it's been great, thinking of getting a 34 next, but need to upgrade my rig before doing that (only have a 1060).

      • +1

Are you able to play 1080p on 29" fine? I was looking for 29-32" 1440p for casual gaming.

        • +1

29 is just 24 gone wide, 1080 is perfect for 29. 27 gone wide is 34, which IMO is perfect for 1440p. My next goal is a 34 1440p 100hz screen, but need at least a 2070 to maximize it.

          • @animasoIa: Thanks. that makes sense. I saw 34" curved monitor today in a shop and it didnt look too big, but was super wide. Will keep this in mind.

      • If you're on a budget, you can opt for 34" 1080p ultrawide - still games fine and looks better than 29" IMO. There are well-priced LG IPS 34" 1080p screens, like this one (https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/lg-34-219-2560x1080-full-hd-ult…) - Freesync support as well.

        • Dont you think 1080p on 34" will be a bit less? I would go for atleast 1440p for most of work. Gaming perhaps, it might look fine. I am looking for 75-10 Hz too.

Anyone used Kogan brand 34" curved ones 1440p?

          • @EnALup: It's a matter of expectations - the cheaper 1440p 34" are not IPS screens. I prefer accurate colour reproduction and optimal viewing angles, plus it cannot cost an arm and a leg. =)

  • What do i need to do to set up a second screen at home?
    Help?

    • Just have enough space available on your desk, make sure your PC has the required display output either from your graphics card or your motherboard (depends if your cpu has onboard graphics) and you'll be good man

      • I've got an Rx 580.
Do i need extra cables or how do i connect the two monitors.

        • +2

Your RX 580 should have at least 2 DisplayPorts, 2 HDMIs and a single DVI-D. So you'd have your current monitor connected to which ever port it currently uses and the second monitor connected to whichever port it uses. In this case the LG ultrawide uses HDMI which it would come with inside the contents of the box, and you'd hook the HDMI from the monitor to the RX 580.

          • +3

@Currynuts: Alright I'll suss it out.
Thanks for the advice my fellow OZB

@alz: No problemo, hope it goes well man!

  • Just bought the 29inch, gonna add it next to my current 34inch. Thanks OP

    • That's nuts!! :P

      • Haha I'm a programmer and the extra screen real estate really helps!

        • Cool..long lines of code!
I am an architectural designer so the extra real estate is tempting as well.. tossing between vc239h or the ultrawide 29" (already have a U2312hm) trying to justify the extra $50

  • Any reviews for how good is this monitor for photo editing? Would love the big screen size but unsure on the color reproduction.

    • No way a cheap monitor should be considered. Every review for every cheap monitor will reflect that.

    • I think the monitor would be running faster.

  • Thanks OP, tempting :^)

  • Ok product at a good price

  • actually prefer this monitor over my 4k samsung one

    • Due to size, ratio…?

        yeah and refresh rate.
