  • Does it work with $50 GC? My Woolies only has 4x50 left.

    • yes

    • Yes, according to multiple posts above

    • -1

Thanks. Sorry don't have time to read as I'm in the shop right now in the search for cards

  • Miranda Westfield Woolies has about 50pcs $100 left and more $50 cards.

I got 20 $100 cards. Paid $900 first got $90 rewards, then 9 more cards and used rewards so paid $810, then 2 more cards and paid $110. $2000 cards for $1820 and $20 rewards money left.

Now the wait game begins (Bing Lee or TGG 20% off). Nothing fancy or fun, our oven just broke :(

      master!

    • How do your check out with your Woolworths credit? I tried but wouldn’t work. I even did it at self check out and when it prompted the screen to use Woolworths credit and at check out still show full amount of the gift card to pay.

      • Have you bought any? You buy first then get the credit

        • Yes I have purchased them and have the $50 dollar everyday rewards credit in my account. Odd thing when I check out, it says "Do you wish to use woolworths credit" I said yes, then next check out, asked me to pay $50 for the $50 gift card. Spoke to the store manager they say not applicable for gift card purchase. Two stores gave me the same answer. This is for the self check out as well. Really confused at the moment with all people with great success using their everyday reward credit.

          • @cloudie9: And just to be clear, you are buying an ebay gift card with your credit

            • @snvl: Purchased 5 x $100 ebay gift card. Earned 10,000 points = $50 credit. Tried to check out another 1 x $50 eBay gift card, at the final check out, it asked me to confirm using Woolworths rewards $50 credit, I pressed "yes" then at the final checkout, it prompts me payment option, I can only select card, this at self check out kiosk, then next final step, it asked me to pay $50, Woolworths credit wasn't applied.

              • @cloudie9: I know this issue. In the situation when the owing amount is less than 10c(maybe) or 0 after rewards redemption on giftcard purchase, the system refuses to take rewards. You just need to buy one small thing to get around or use it to buy a $100 one.

                • @Neoika: I did try purchasing 3 packs of vege chips, $3.80 each, so total is $61.40. Still wouldn't let me check out.

      • I tried first with self service but once the lady came and saw the stack with my hand she said I should move to a cashier.

After the cashier scanned the 2nd batch of 9 cards she asked if I wanted to use the credit, so I said if I can yes please and it worked fine.

I would have been equally happy to use a $10 credit each time I shopped at Woolies for groceries for coming few months, but this way worked better.

Have no idea why it wouldn't work for others. Perhaps it does not work at self service cashier, or the human cashier tries to follow "the rules" :P

        • I will try the cashier tomorrow then. But then again, two stores have flatly say that I couldn't use credit for eBay Gift card.

          • @cloudie9: Don't ask for it at first, when the time comes to pay, ask if the cashier could apply the credit before payment. They have that option at the register for sure.

          • @cloudie9: Look, i think its one of those things that its the managers discretion.

I can guarantee it is possible, but whether they want to

Either buy another lot some where else to apply the credit,
Come back a few hours later when that manager is off

Or as someone suggested it, just tell them to apply it and don't ask or wait to be asked

        • Out of curiosity, did you guys use a physical everyday rewards or Apple wallet version?

          • @cloudie9: I used my physical rewards card.

          • @cloudie9: cloudie9 Physical gift card for me. Paid $200 for 2x $100 cards on single transaction earning 4000 points and $80 for 1x $100 card on second transaction with another 2000 points on WW reward card via self check out.

            • @F1ngolf: Cool beans, I'll try a value bigger than $50 then.

              • +1

@cloudie9: Hope it works for you tomorrow.

                • @F1ngolf: Tried this morning and it works ! On a 1 x $100 eBay gift Card. I tried the register check out. At first the cashier says it won’t work but then I said let’s try it and it popped on the screen and there it goes… happy days.

                  • @cloudie9: Wonderful and good on you. In numerous occasions, I find that staff at Woolies and Coles do not have a clue on the gift card promo details including T&C. It happened last week on the Coles pre-paid mastercard and recent Boost prepaid mobile plan. I just have to request them to give a go and lo and behold, they would tell me that they learned something new for the day.:) Ozbargain is such a great community to learn what works and won't work.

  • Thanks OP, picked up 5 from Elizabeth South. Plenty 100s & 50s left.

  • No $100 left in Oakleigh 3166. I got x20 $50 instead, confirmed rewards. Still about 20 left.
    Rewards credit is received immediately.

    • Huh really the $50 give you 2000points?

Edit: read the other comments that it gives 1000points

      • Gives 1000 points ($5)

  • $100 ones sold out at Chadstone, although there were a few $50 ones left. Bought that last 5 $100 ones at The Links, again a few $50 ones left.

Try the dead stores. Mine had about 50 100s.

  • Nothing left in Top Ryde NSW, there are few $100 in West Ryde NSW

I know it is hard in practice. But, can you buy 5% off physical woolworth gift card (not egift card) via cashrewards and purchase the ebay gift card in Woolworth store?

    • Can't use gift cards to buy other gift cards.

  • Bought $200 today but need more, is it limited to one transaction or unlimited? I can buy again in same store?

    • Who would stop you?

    • You can, I bought 2 lots of 5 at the same store but have read some store managers might not accept it.

  • Just picked up 10 $100 ebay cards from woollies in docklands (merchant St). There was literally about 100 more $100 cards on the shelf so head there if you need some!

    • I just picked up x20 $100 cards from Merchant St Docklands also. Still about 50 $100 cards left and probably 100+ $50 cards remaining. Note if going through self checkout, you will need a team member at the end to verify and complete transaction for you.

  • A few questions, hopefully someone can help.

    1) Why can't I add my woolworths reward card to google pay ? Using galaxy s6 edge. Don't have a physical card but managed to log into my account.

    2) Can I buy the gift cards using my credit card ?

    3) Whats the best way to buy $750 worth of gift cards?

soz been on ozbargain a while but i'm a newb when it comes to this stuff.

    Thanks

    • 1) You can; go Google it. There’s a link that you need to click on when you’re logged in I believe

      2) Yes; what kind of question is that? It’s Woolies …

Can’t answer your third question though; sorry

      • 2) oops I got confused with buying Wish Gift Cards with CC. My confusion comes from an article I read a while back on manufactured spending for CC points

  • Town Hall store NSW has been restocked with $100 cards for anyone interested . Just grabbed a few.

  • 2) Can I buy the gift cards using my credit card ? Y

    3) Whats the best way to buy $750 worth of gift cards? Buy 7 X $100 's and 1 X $50 as give option to use up to 8 cards in one transaction when purchasing on Ebay .

    • Thank-you, would that mean $20 will remain on my card which I can use on groceries ?

      • PAOK11
Could be better to buy 6 x $100 and 1 x $50 in single transaction (pay $650) to get 13000 bonus points AND 1 x $100 in another transaction and redeem 12000 points to offset $60 during payment and pay $40 balance with 1000 bonus balance on your WW reward card.

    • +2

Note that I used 10 cards and the TECHY coupon code when buying my S10 this morning so it looks like eBay aren't enforcing the 8 card maximum at the moment.

  • Woolworths Penrith has a couple dozen of each 50 and 100.

I would like to ask as for year any deals like this would never work but if you purchase cards and gain your points which turn into $ how did you use them to buy other cards. As i have never been able to use the credit with purchase of cards yes food etc but not cards.

    • I agree.

    • I purchased 5 cards and did them separately. The WR $ are earned automatically.

I already had a pending $10 on my card, so when I purchased my first card, I used that to gain 410 off for a price of $90. The next card used the $10 rewards from the previous transaction so discount, and so on.

    • +2

      it was hard reading this

  • Heaps of $100 and $50 cards left at Karrinyup, WA. The self-checkout lady was a little unhappy when I tried to do 5 separate transactions for each card, but let me do it.

    • oh the trick is to process each gift card separately. thanks

  • Woolworths mount druitt has lots of both 50 and 100

The bonus points didn't appear on my card (I tapped Google pay to link it to the transaction). Apparently, it's been happening to a number of people at my local Woolies store. They pulled out some notes they'd written up earlier, told me which number to call and said they'd help me sort out the error.

I called rewards support, which has ended up being really unpleasant and a waste of my time. They couldn't find the deal (at first). They finally found it (after keeping me on hold for 20 minutes) then tried to tell me I wasn't eligible for the points because the card I bought was apparently a different colour to the one in the advertising picture!

I cleared that up, but was then questioned at length about whether I was sure I'd added my rewards card to the transaction (because it wasn't showing against my account activity i.e. the reason I'd called support in the first place!).

It irks me when large companies try to squirm out of coughing up legitimate claims for no good reason. If I was given a genuine reason why I wasn't eligible (e.g. some small print I hadn't read), I'd happily wear it and move on. It seemed to me like their automatic reaction was to start grasping at straws to find a way not to credit the points. Perhaps they get a lot of people calling up with rubbish claims trying to screw some points out of them and it's just become their standard way of dealing with people.

I'd like to send them a photo of the in-store signage for this deal to help clear it up but won't be able to get in till much later tonight. I don't suppose anyone snapped a photo of it whilst making their purchase, did they? I'd really appreciate anyone who did getting in touch.

I'll keep everyone posted on how I go getting this sorted out. Please share if you've had a similar experience!

    • Sorry to hear about your troubles. If it helps, have a look at the catalogue. It states eligibility is for "ANY DENOMINATION OF THE CARDS PICTURED".

      • Unless the store had a very old gift card.

    • gee, your post has put me off trying this myself. I think i'll give it a miss after all

      • To date, there are 5 pages full of comments from happy ozbargainers who have successfully purchased….. your decision is based on this one only?

        • It's set up to be difficult. The discount should be applied when you scan the ebay git card >end<. What I actually meant was i'm not going to use a temporary card or google pay. I'll wait until I get a physical card in the mail, if the deal is still available

          • @PAOK11: I use sto card and no problem encountered.

          • @PAOK11: There are temporary paper membership cards at the checkout, sign up on the spot and use the temporary card.

    • Same thing when they went promotion for the $100 eftpos card but they had the old card(with $5.95 fee instad of $6.95) even had the banner on top saying 2000 points. Spoke to CS they said black luck then i raise complaint to FT for misreading. At the end they give me the point as good will

    • is the rewards card and your credit card both on your phone? is it possible that the woolworths terminal took the payment before your reward card scanned? I always use my physical reward card to make sure it scans.

    • is your gift card blue and yellow? if so then it is an out of date gift card , it should say 2 years expiry.

      • What was the outcome for you? How did you go?

Mine are yellow with blue writing and a 3 year expiry. Does this mean they are out of date and not eligible?

Also read the FAQ on the woolworths rewards site which said that points resulting from promotions cannot be added by going through CS on 1300 101 234. Is this true?

        • The old one is mostly blue little yellow.

Also read the FAQ on the woolworths rewards site which said that points resulting from promotions cannot be added by going through CS on 1300 101 234. Is this true?

Yes it is true they normally dont do it evern you ask for manager, if you can call them one more time and tell them that you are recording the call(install a phone recording app), then ask them again nicely, told them if they refuses then you will need to go to Fair trading.

I raise a complaint to Fair Trading then specially resolution team gave me all points as good will.

Waverley Gardens, VIC still had about 20 of them.
Brought 11 and checkout chick did 10 all in one transaction then did a separate for the 11th one which I applied the credits on making it $0.

  • I just bought a couple at Port Augusta, I went through the self serve and I did separate purchases for them so I could get multiple fuel vouchers… When I scanned the first one the assistant came over to make sure it activated ok, no issues, and then she helped me with the second purchase and she used the $10 credit from the first to buy the second… I'm tempted to go back in and grab more, lol…

    • Ahh, didn't think to get multiple fuel vouchers but then again don't need that many. My local school will be happy with the 110 earn and learn stickers i got them lol…

Worked as a charm with Woolies employee discount

Bought 6 x $50 which came down to $285 on the Self-Checkout and also got $30 worth of points

Bought 1 more using the points and the price came down to 17.50 after employee discount and gained $5 worth of points

Overall bought gc worth $350 actual spend $297.50

    • Does the employee discount work on gift cards as well? I thought they were excluded.

      • at coles they are rofl, feels bad

      • +1

        Worked for me

      • I didn't get a discount around 6-9 months ago on some gift cards I bought, but the discount worked on Kogan cards around a month ago and also worked for the ebay cards, so they might have changed the policy again.

  • Does this work if you buy 2x$50 cards?

    • +1

Yes. You will receive 2000 Woolworths rewards points for 2x$50 cards which is equal to $10 off your next purchase.

      • Thanks. There were tons of $50 cards left. I guess the max rewards are lower as you can get only 10 x $50 cards= $500value.
        10,000 pts

      • The ad only shows the $100 gift card though? Would the $50 work??? It isnt advertised…

        • We walk the walk, and you keep talk the talk! 😏

        • Yes $50=1000pts

  • +2

No issue here. All worked out well. Store had 9 left of which I took 8.
They knew exactly why I was purchasing the cards as they knew of the deal.
Was recommended not to go through self serve. Apparently if the card does not activate, it is voided and can not be sold again. Took all through the old service register and sent each through individually for the extra fuel vouchers. Receipts continued to show the rewards value adding up with the $10 per transaction.
South Melbourne are getting 500 more $100 E-Bay gift cards in the next few days.

Thanks for the bargain. Now to buy on E-Bay through the Qantas E-Bay link for extra FF points.

    • how many car you need to be filled in 4 weeks?

      • Two cars. One filled once a week the other every second. Vouchers last what.. 4 weeks? Given I don't often go to woolies (Coles is closer) it worked out for me to get the extra fuel vouchers. Always fill up at Caltex as you earn Qantas FF rewards. Well, I've been using Caltex from before the FF days.

        • I believe you can't as their T&Cs read as below

"Qantas Points will not be earned on tax and delivery charges, gift cards or orders redeemed with a gift card, purchases that include any voucher, coupon or discount code that is not sourced from the Online Mall platform."

  • Ok, So purchased some ebay gift cards, went to check out an item and the code says "This code can't be applied to your order". Checked the balance and confirmed $100…

Called customer support and they've said…

GIFT CARDS CANNOT BE USED ON CAR AND TRUCK PARTS!!!!

They are sending me an email to put it in writing, first thing tomorrow morning i am calling the ACCC.

Anyone else been able to use them on car parts?

    • car and truck seems to be excluded from everything discount related

    • Weird. I haven't tried but I consider myself schooled now. I was considering using my cards to buy a dashcam… I guess that would come under this restriction too?

    • +2

I've use gift cards on car parts in the past without any issues…That's really dodgy if they've changed it recently, there's no mention of car parts being excluded on the cards or in the T&C…

    • Worked recently on car parts. There was a promotion for eBay plus membership, and that's when they specifically excluded car parts with that particular gift card they were giving away at the time.

  • +1

For people stlll purchasing suggest you go through the normal check outs rather than self serve wherever possible. I spent 20 mins trying to get a staff member to process the rewards discount which for some reason was picked up but not applied to the final price . Eventually it had to be processed at the attended one . maybe its just me :( . Thanks OP for the post - managed to get 20 x $100 over 4 transactions with all points redeemed.

  • +3

Used 15 cards in conjunction with PSYCHED code for $1700 off my laptop purchase.
Won't allow me to go past 15 cards stating "looks like you've used alot of gift cards lately, you will be able to use giftcards again in a few days".

    • Good to know! Have read somewhere max 8 GC can be redeemed in single transaction. So apparently that's not the case. Thanks

      • Had read the same in one of these threads.
Having never used the giftcards on eBay before I'm not sure if 15 is the actual magic number or if it's just my account that triggered the stop at 15. Either way - better than nothing :)

    • Which laptop did you purchase?

      • latest Spectre X360

        • Oh, you meant $170 off? Not $1700.

  • +1

All the locals are out which normally arent the case so ive given up. Thought the promo was ok as usually i can get some at the local stores but obvs someones snapped em all up. Did grab 10% off uber gc at least.

can anyone explain how whole thing works?

  • Does it work in tassie? Anyone knows?
