    Polls are not bargains! :)

Asking question is not a deal. Post it in a forum.

  • Maybe Bose soundbar 700 is a better option :)

Costco normally sell cut down version of Bose soundbar, like this Soundtouch 300 with a smaller sub, and it's not the 300 sub. Also their Solo 5 have a cut down version of the remote control which doesn't have universal remote build in.

    • Which sub is this one included then?

      • It's just called acoustic mass bass module, which is now discontinued, but it's an equivalent of the existing cut down model 500 vs 700.

        • Do you think it’s a bang for the buck in terms of the current competition on the market?

          • @lx8789: It's not a bad deal, but if you want thundered sound, then this deal isn't for you, worth the getting the bigger 700 sub with it, basically, the 700 sub is the same as the discontinued 300 Sub.

@lx8789: no, as far as quality home audio is concerned this is a catastrophic rip off.

  • so you posted an item that's not a deal but a question for you to ask…

  • I have the Soundtouch 300 without the subwoofer. It's great for music but isn't weighty enough for movies. I'm sure the subwoofer helps loads. I bailed on it though and bought a Samsung combo.

    • I got the ST 300 with the 300 Sub, and it's amazing, I reckon you should always get the sub with it.

I have ST300 without SW and I really like it. If you're into movies alot and enjoy heavy bass, it would be worth getting it. Also the newer series (not this) has Amazon Alexa integrated if that is something you're keen on. Later on you can add in the wireless rear speakers.

True, the new ST 700 has Amazon Alexa built-in and easier to set up, but they charge you $200 RRP more over the ST3, apart from that everything else is the same, I find that for some reason they removed the Night mode on the 700 series, which is a useful feature.

Bose setup is a bit painful, mainly ARC, but once you got over it, it's good.

Had one of these in the full package for about a week before returning it.

Sound was phenomenal. Setup was not.

Bose had it in their mind that everything should just work through the ARC passthrough, so there's literally no display beyond a couple of blinky leds. Since no single manufacturer does ARC the same way, it only ever worked about 1 in 10 times when I turned on my tv, and the lack of a display made it a nightmare to diagnose. This apparently is an issue with Samsung TVs and a patch was never issued.

If I didn't want to spend hours fiddling with it everytime i wanted to watch tv, I had to work around via an analogue optical cable, but this meant it was difficult to use with multiple inputs, didn't display the volume levels on the tv and what else have you.

Still, was super impressed when it did work. If you don't have a Samsung tv, or won't get one in the future, this might be a good buy.

    • This happens with most sounds bars on my sanding tv also. I got a new TV and it works perfectly.

they're charging $1260 for that! You'd have to be nuts.

the sound from speakers like these https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/452977 will leave that for dead. You can't beat physics.

    • Can you provide some advice in terms of which speaker and sub to get? But they all passive speaker right? Means I would have to get a separate receiver as well…

    • By the time you buy the required number of speakers and a sub, not to forget an amp, you are looking at way more than $1200. Soundbars are the best bang for buck these days imo. I recently bought a Samsung HW-N950 from Appliances Online Ebay store for $1060 ish and that price is still available. Bose sounds much better compared to Samsung imo but doesn't have Atmos or DTS x. Samsung with Atmos /DTS X and a true 7.1.4 setup (as opposed to acoustic trickery) won me over.

  • This is being sold with the bass module 500, which is part of the new range, with the subs working with the older soundtouch 300. The deal isn't too bad, and the decent thing is you could update the soundtouch 300 to the sound at 700 later on and keep using the bass module that comes with this package, as it will work with the new soundbars. If you're in a smaller space, apartment or closed of lounge room, the smaller bass module 500 is perfect. The bass module 700 can be overkill for smaller rooms, and after adaptiq calibration, the subs full potential will usually get reduced to not outweigh the sound coming from the bar.

    • Thank you

I did tried out on this sound bar (assumed sub was also connected) while I was Int costco, contents are movies and music. Movie was the car chasing scene in Bourne Idenity (or ultimatimum?)

Personally I think it was the best sound quality I have ever listened to from a single sound bar.

However I would like to keep my options open, if I am going to spend $1200 plus on a sound bar, it would be on the high end of the budget.

What’s your thought? For the same money we can also but a Sonos Beam plus a sub ( or two Sonos 1s) it Yamaha YAS 2700 with some changes.

Not to mention some others in the competitions?
