Tissot Seastar 1000 Automatic Black Dial Men's Watch US $565 (~AU $805) Delivered @ Jomashop

90

The automatic choice for divers. With its high water-resistance up to a pressure of 30 bar (300 m/1000 ft), screw-down crown and caseback as well as its unidirectional ceramic bezel, the Tissot Seastar 1000 is the ultimate diving watch, now combined with the energy of the Powermatic 80 movement.

Swiss made. Not a bad deal compared to others I have found (most around 1k mark). GST included. You can get a $20USD discount as well if you are a new customer. Just leave browser open open on home page and it will pop up. This would bring price down to $778 delivered.

I have no ideas about this watch, but I prefer this blue one:

I like them both, sadly I have too many watches. Anyway we need to pack it up quickly before vegan femme gang finds out there is a post about men's watch!

      • I don't understand your first sentence. And as my wife is running a silver gold and blue Invicta Grand Diver that is bigger than any of my collection, I think the whole mens/womens watches thing is dead in the water.

I have no ideas about this watch, but I know this sale is going on:

my god they sell some ugly watches 😲

    • Only people with tree trunk arms should wear an Aragon.

      • Yeah i tend to agree. There's a couple i like but don't own one yet, which is why i'm keeping an eye on them.

From my personal experience, don’t buy from Jomashop. If thr is a problem with watch you cannot get it repaired or replaced from jomashop and original watch warranty does not apply. It is way too expensive to send watch back to Jomashop as well. They dont reply emails and you have to call them at odd US times.

    • I've bought a few watches from them and never had a problem

    • If there is a problem after you've worn it, I wouldn't send it back to Joma. Lots of stories about watches be returned after warranty work with more damage or issues. They don't offer factory warranty, only Joma in-house warranty.

Grey dealers are cheaper because usually there's no factory warranty. The saving should be put towards a local repair or service if needed. That's the caveat.

    • I've only bought from them once but I had an issue as well. A Seiko automatic that was running excessively slow and wouldn't hold a full power reserve. Regulation fixed the timekeeping but the power reserve issue I wasn't able to resolve.

They were responsive over email to me, but it wasn't really useful. Ship it back to them and if they find a problem they'll reimburse postage… Given all the bad stories about their warranty I decided not to send it back.

Not sure if I'd shop with them again. If the price difference is enough that you can factor in a service and still be ahead, maybe it's worth it.

  • I will spend 800 on a seiko 6r15 diver.

      Give me a sbdc061.

      • Have a sbdc059, amazed by its quality for the price. I am addicted to the seiko.

  • What should be the budget for a male spending on a watch?

I've spent $600 on WearOS smartwatches and am trying to justify my spending to myself 😂

depends if you just functionality, then i love my citizen eco drives, always accurate always ready to go. if you want statement / jewelry item then there is no price limit eg omega.
people often notice my seamaster and name a mention, never make a mention of my citizen or seiko watches.
i don’t wear rings or other bling …. just my watches.

  • How long is a piece of string? Too many variables unless you are quite specific or know of a particular watch you fancy.

Depends on needs/wants/specs/movement/country of origin/job environment/micro brand vs massive manufacturers.

You can get a good quality, well-specced microbrand watch from a tiny, but experienced company for $600. Expect a lead time.

You can get a lowly-specced, but we'll made and decent watch from a big player (Seiko, Citizen etc) or an entry level Swiss watch. Quartz are cheaper.

  • Sorry the price not very attractive, oz watch shop also can made 20% off of the price.

  • Hi all,

so jomashop is a reliable seller right? i see good deals from them from time to time, those cheaper considerably than other shops - they ship to Australia and no other fees like customs?

    • They are legit, I've bought a few from them without issues.
They've also started collecting GST (added at checkout) so I'm guessing no custom fees.

The chronograph version is a quartz. The one posted is an automatic watch.

I was contemplating prior to buy this watch from Joma but resisted from doing so given its not an authorised reseller and the hassle with returns if any issues.
I bought the watch 2 weeks ago (the rubber band version, T1204071704100) at Angus & Coote for $800 when they had a 20% off sale on Tissot. Angus & Coote is an authorised Tissot so you can drop the watch instore should you have an issues in the future.
Not sure if they still sell it at this price atm but at least you can expect to buy it at this price locally during sales.
