I know it's not the OzB way but was wondering if anyone has availed of the tour packages during Cherry Blossoms and can give some tips on how to do it cheaply. Cheers!
Japan Cherry Blossoms Tour Package
Comments
I never understood why the tartan loving nation of Japan never adopted the picnic blanket and insist on nasty blue tarps.
Just to see one area where blossoms are abundant. Is a tour package not advisable?
honestly never heard of a cherry blossom tour (I lived there for 4 years) - there are day trips to places where cherry blossoms would be abundant e.g. Hakone (west of Tokyo, next to Mt Fuji)
easiest to google "best places for cherry blossom spotting"
I would just go to Philosopher's walk in Kyoto during sakura season.
If you just want to see the blossoms in bloom and don't want to follow them, then it's probably not worth doing any of the tour packages.
Instead I'd recommend researching cities you'd like to go to in Japan, and aim to travel there in cherry blossom season (late March - mid-May depending on seasonal factors/cities you'd like to visit).
When you're in a city at the right time, it's easy enough to find some blossoms, whether part of a tour or not.
I was there myself in cherry blossom season last year, and while seeing the blossoms is nice, personally it's not something I'd base a full trip/tour around. There's much more to Japan than just the cherry blossoms :)
Cherry Blossom Forecast 2019
cherry blossom flowering in Japan (mainland) begins in the south of Kyushu in Kagoshima and , like a tsunami, washes north and up japan to Hokkaido.
if you want to see cherry blossoms then do what people do and go to a park.
if in Tokyo then Yoyogi park is great.
are you wanting to follow the blossoms?
