Who on earth would bother connecting their phone to their toothbrush everytime they brush?

      What a gimmicky feature!

      • +6

Just one of those things mate. They do it to get your foot in the door for either their data collection, or interest to purchase the product etc. I'd assume that after using the app one or two times, the purchaser will just return to using the toothbrush as normal.

        • +4

can confirm, have same toothbrush. tried bluetooth once and never bothered with it again. I use the mirror mount in my car instead.

          • @koom: It's a good mount in the car.

          • @koom:

I use the mirror mount in my car instead.

You brush your teeth in your car?

Who on earth would bother connecting their phone to their toothbrush everytime they brush?

Every nitwit participating in the mass delusion that tracking and brainwashing don't work.

    • Thanks OP, bought one!

    • is this functioning 'Sonic care' too?

    • +1

      $350 for a toothbrush?

  • Does it pay the Star Wars music while you brush?

  • Need to put retailer in title
    and put link in post..
go to EDIT and update the info

    • Done - thank you!

      • +1

you need to put link in the LINK section when you edit, cause at the moment when you click "go to deal" it links to an image of the deal not the actual deal.
There is a section where you can post the link when you post the item
also you need to edit price to $159 as you have it listed for $190

  • imo: its kinda weird that this one which was posted way before one on the front page isn't the on the front page

    • This was posted before the second post was merged with this post, and I did find it weird that the first person who posted wasn't the one on the front page

  • -1

Friend, the title, price and link were wrong. all been changed now

  • Do you actually clean your teeth with this or just collect it?

  • This or the Phillips Sonicare Diamondclean?

    • +1

I currently use Oral B 9000 and previously had Philips. Get the Philips. Much better than Oral B based on my experience. Replacement heads are more expensive with the Philips but Oral B is noisy, battery life is crap and feels cheaply made. It also has rubber moulds around the handle which is perfect place for mould to grow over time.

      • +1

I'm curious. Battery life aside because most people leave them on charge (probably to blame for the poor battery life) or have it very close by anyway (bathroom cupboard/shaving cabinet), what would you say cleans the best?

I tend to have preferred the round head of the oral-b for better reach. Given I've been using a longer, non-round headed toothbrush the last 4-5 years, that'd be the only reason I'd stay away from the Phillips unless it was better in any other way.

Genuinely asking as we're looking to replace our toothbrushes as we speak.

        • +1

Take into account personal preference on this. Having used both, I prefer oral b for mouth feel/overall clean. But having said that the battery (earlier non lithium) takes a literal day to charge and last only around 2 weeks. Also does have bits which can get mouldy. Shame you can't test these at a shop!

        • +1

I don't like having anything plugged in left on at all times.
Don't think there is much in it in terms of which one does the better job of brushing your teeth.

          • @keejoonc: Thanks for the feedback guys/gal's. As said below somewhere. I think I'm just going to spring for it. Can't be bothered waiting for a non-smart version and we need replacements as we speak. As far as a clean, philips vs oral b will be much of a muchness and I'm leaning more towards the round heads as in the past I have preferred the better access/reach they give us vs the oval shaped heads of 5th e Phillips.

I'm the same as far as leaving things on charge or switched on at the outlet. Always flick them off. I'd happily have this flicked on overnight or during the day whilst at work once a week or as needed.

I'm also unphased as far as noise. I'm there to brush my teeth and get out, can't say I'll be too concerned with a bit of noise - it doesn't enhance or detract from the experience.

            Thanks again.

    • +1

Definitely the Sonicare as it simply cleans better.

  • +1

Luke skymolar, I am your premolar.

Seriously what's next, limited edition star wars toilet paper…. I shall call it Darth Paper!

  • What do you do when you need to replace the included black brush head? Use white ones? OCD warning!

    • You can buy blackheads, but it seems the Optimal 9000 replacement blackheads are hard to find ;-)

  • Wow true collectors item keep this sealed and will be worth a fortune for years to come

    • They would have pretty bad oral hygiene though.

  • does anyone know if the cheaper oral b models have the same motor as the 9000? i'm not keen on all the extra features on the 9000. just more things to go wrong if it breaks.

    • +1

I can try do a video for you

    • +4
      • Sounds like it'd drill a hole THROUGH your teeth! Haha 😂

        • Lol, it's actually quite tame. I used the camera setting once and it tells me when you're applying too much pressure. Didn't use it after the first time, and my teeth are quite sensitive. I enjoy using this one over the $30 k mart one, my teeth fee a lot cleaner for longer after using it.

          • @Garroshs: Cheers I'm probably going to spring for it. We need a new brush between my wife and I and I can't be bothered waiting for a non smart version or a Phillips equivalent. I think at the end of the day we're going to see a vast improvement over her cheap oral b and my cheapy Coles special that I jumped to when my last oral b gave up the ghost.

            • +1

@db87: I pretty much use ony the first setting, and the tounge clean setting. I use it twice a day, so the price is justified. If you were to use the one brush between 2 people, with 2 different heads, i think this would be a very good investment.

              • @Garroshs: Yep, I just checked out. Not worth the headache of waiting for other deals or comparing Tony details of the top models. They all clean teeth at the end of the day and these are the market leaders. No brainer as you say splitting it for 2 people.

Thanks for the input! Definitely helped the decision.

                • @db87: I think i got mine cheaper than this deal, let me check.

$152 with code PEEl20 + Free delivery I got mine incredibly quick from NSW to Country victoria

                  • +1

@Garroshs: All good. I used my first shopback 12% off for Amazon also so should see this around the $140 mark.

Saves me wasting any more time shopping around and comparing toothbrush reviews! 🤦‍♂️ 😂 Hahaha

                    • @db87: What is this 1st Shopback 12% offer ?

                      • @regenade: I've never used shopback until today but I believe their standard cash back was 10% (?) and they currently have it at 12% for Amazon.

The first claim comment is just regurgitated from someone else in this deal who mentioned it. However, when I went to the shopback website, it didn't mention anything about a 1st claim or anything like that, to me it just looked like their current cash back rate but that could very well be because it was my 1st claim. shrugs

YMMV. I hope that makes a bit of sense.

    • +1

This is Oral-B’s most powerful brush, with 10,500 rotations and 48,000 pulsations per minute

Assuming that’s different to the standard model?

      • +2

This one is much more powerful

  • +9

May the floss be with you.

For the more budget conscious, Woolworths have a half price sale on most electric toothbrushes

  • +2

Damnit!!! I saw this and now simply must get one!

    LOL

Edit: Do not forget 10% cashback on cashrewards if you havent already used it (for 1 transaction only!)

    • i think 12% cashback on shopback now

      • How come 12% cashback for Health Care category ? Shows 7% on Shopback. For CR it is 5.6%

    • Can you clarify where you read this?

Mine is still only hoeing as click history.

  • Ilitterally bought this 2 days ago for 170! reeeee

    • So it's a good deal?

      • -1

yeah i think its great so far

  • I wonder if the Pro 2 2000 is effectively the same, minus the "smart stuff". I like Star Wars, but not sure I can be bothered to pull out my phone each time I brush my teeth.

    • +3

Pro 2 2000 - oscillates 8,800 times and pulsates 40,000 times per minute.

Genius 9000 - oscillates 10,500 and pulsates 48,000 times per minute

They seem pretty similar. They both have the pressure sensor and quad section 2 minute brushing timer. The pressure warning seems to be on the bottom of the pro 2 while the 9000 is near the handle.

Just been googling stuff because I’m actually curious whether I should get this but I don’t care for the other features like the tooth polish or phone app

      • In the same boat. What's the highest spec oral-b/Phillips without all of the smarts?

Ready to buy a brush but there's way too models and gimmicks.

        • The pro 2 2000 seems to be the runner up for online reviews. There’s a few suggesting pro 2 2500 but I can’t even find anywhere that seems to sell them.

          • @SlappersOnly: If you search for the pro 2 2000, my first result spat out the Amazon link that I can't link (see my unpublished comment below). It has a table showing the differences to other models of the Oral-B if anyone is curious.

Can anybody also weigh in on the Oral-B vs. Phillips battle?

        • Choice is often harmful to consumers, just look at the telco and electricity disasters.

          • @Diji1: Of course, I take review sites with a grain of salt. Looking more for personal opinion as they should be less likely to be skewed (online reviews or store staff opionon).

  • +3

for some reason, this reminded me of this pic

  • What’s the deal with replacement heads. Are they a “one size fits all” deal or do you need to buy specific model replacement heads?

    • The back of the replacement packaging tells you which one it does not fit. So from memory, most (cross action, sensitive clean, gloss action & precision clean) of the replacement heads fits the genius series

  • One day we may get a teeth cleaning system that involves a mini Millennium Falcon zooming through our teeth cleaning them by laser fire with a payload of a breath freshener dropped down our exhaust ports throats. I can dream…

  • I have this. It is an incredible electric toothbrush.
My teeth really feel so much cleaner throughout the next day compared to my old cheapie electric brush

  • A good deal with 7% shopback

  • and thats a wrap folks

  • Just received mine.

  • It's back in stock for anyone who missed out… not sure how many units they have to sell or how long the offer will be on for.

    • deal highlighted for a while now.

  • +1

$160 for a tooth brush? holy crap i'll stick to manual

    • Agreed!! I mean I bought the $99 mini water hose for my teeth .. manuals can’t do that but one that brushes for u, good for people who have arthritis but if ur ok…
