Negotiating NBN

Hi I am the last house in the neighborhood not on the NBN. Others who have switched have got an ipone XR as a sweetener. After half an hour of chat they won't come to the party. I don't really want to change providers because my husband works in a remote area that only picks up Telstra? Any hints? as I said I know at least 2 others who have got this as part of the deal. The best they can offer is that I pay $119 per month for the phone I want.

  • Are we talking about the NBN or a mobile phone plan here? No need to have them with the same provider.

God, please re-write your post. It's so hard to read.

What provider is offering free iPhone XRs?
Are you after a phone or an internet service?
$119 per month is a lot for NBN.

  • The margins on NBN are slim, I highly doubt those people near you received a fully subsidised iPhone XR to swap to NBN.
They likely received something like a $10 discount, free speed upgrade or unlimited landline calls but without seeing their contract we can't really provide advice on a deal none of us have received.

How much are the other 2 paying overall for their internet and mobile phone services (the ones who got the iphone xr)?
What service provider did they join to get that deal?
Who is your current mobile and internet providers?

I'm lost after the 2nd sentence

  • Others who have switched have got an ipone XR as a sweetener.

This is unusual for NBN. They normally advise customers that they'll switching off an area. It's then up to the customers to arrange to connect to an RSP run the risk of being left without a service.

  • Go ask your neighbours how they got it.

  • lol they were work friends. One very recently through Optus an iphone XR. She told me they try to fob you off with cheaper phones etc, just stand your ground and they eventually agreed.
