Back in January I threw out a quiet "buyer beware" on one of the Anki Overdrive deal threads. I couldn't share what I knew (or how) but did highlight some publicly-observable data points their need to quickly deprecate some of their range.
The only real hope, now, is for a private equity firm (or community-backed fund) to buy the necessary IP and infrastructure to keep the platform on life support.

Looks like theres quite a few shut downs at the end, shame to hear about Anki, not something I'd buy at full price, but I thought it was kool still. Shame for all those employees, but maybe there will be big Anki Cozmo deals now :p with the servers gone and I can have a go changing some things internally.

This is a very good example of not buying products that rely on cloud servers from the company. Any product you buy could have its support pulled tomorrow, or the company go bust. Anki/Cozmo devices will soon become bricks.
