Why Bigger Phones Retain its Value Better than Smaller Phones?

I know that the current trend shows that phones are getting bigger, but not only that it seems that the bigger option is always more popular than the smaller one. It makes sense for the bigger phone to be more expensive initially, but bigger phones are generally better at retaining its value. I say this because if you look at the deals in the past at Ozbargain, most phones that are dropped in price quickly are the smaller ones. One example I can give you is Iphone SE which can be had as cheap as $250 in the past, but you can't get Iphone 6 plus below $300 when bought around the same time. This is weird considering Iphone SE actually come out 2 years after the 6 plus.

The same goes for current phone like s10e, unlike its competitor iPhone XR it retain the value very well. Do you think maybe because iPhone XR is not smaller compare to its big brother?

If this trend goes on, we might actually have a tablet as our phone.

People prefer the larger screen for watching video and playing games - its not complicated.

  • It's mostly that iPhones and Apple products retain value better than Android phones

    • How about s10e compare to s10+, the price drop difference are significant between those two. And I don't compare Iphone with Android, I compare them with other iPhones. Try to compare deals for iPhone 6+/6s+/7+/8+ with iPhone 6/6s/7/8.

      • My ex-Note 5 had a decent resale. Like ages ago.

  • because size matters

  • Because bigger is better :-)
