I Need Cheap Haircut in Sydney CBD

I wouldn't mind walking from Central down to Circular Quay end.

I don't mind what race cuts my hair as long as it's good and below < $20.

Taroo cuts is getting expensive now.

last I went, asked for undercut and 2 lines, nuna wanted to charge me $5 for the lines; talked my way through it and no charge.

Don't want to negotiate all the time for a undercut disconnected line.

  • there is a barber shop near Hurstville station that cost $7-8 and it wasn't too bad.

      Sydney CBD recommendation please.

  • hair cuts at Korean town Pitt St are usually around $15 to $$20

    • Which one is $15 ?

      • pretty sure the one near the corner of Pitt and Castlereagh St charges $15.

at least that was the case when I went there a few months ago

        • -1

Pitt and Castlereagh are adjacent .. they never meet each other … which corner did you mean?

          • @tempura: You mean parallel. Be careful how you request your disconnected surgical cuts!

            • @kiitos: Don't worry, i can't pronounce the word anyway. Normally I write it down for them.

        • so? which one? whats the name??

        • If your referring to FM Hair, they raised their price from $15 to $20.

          • @porleng: yeah that's the one, corner of Liverpool and Pitt st :)

Do people still get undercuts these days? I thought it died out in the 90s. Retro hair style making a comeback?

    • It implies to me that you may have never lived in the 90s.

  • +1

Do it yourself. It's hard the first few times.

    • if it's bald, I can do easily … crew cut, fade cut, tapered, lines (surgical, disconnected) this need Barber speciality, don't you agree?

      • And a specialist probably wants more than $10-$15 an hour, don't you agree?

        • not necessarily depending upon your researching talent. I've seen folks paid specialist from $30 upwards per hour.

  • +4

The difference between a good haircut and a bad haircut is two weeks

    • can't argue with that

  • If you really want to save money try a style that doesn't grow out so quickly.
If you want a particular style expect to pay for it, custom = cost.
As with any bargain if you do just want cheap then expect to compromise on location, time or quality.

    • I think tapered undercut fading from 1 to 0 shouldn't grow out too quick. IMO, it does look deteriorating in at least 3 weeks time.

  • +6

OP you talked yourself out of a $5 haircut?
    You must be proud

Grow up and pay for the services you require

Do you really think $5 is going to cover the following for the place you get the cut?

    • Rent
    • Wages
    • Electricity
    • Misc costs
    • -2

Never did I mention anything about $5 in this thread; i think you're in the wrong forum. Perhaps it's someone else that you after ❔ thanks for visiting though.

      • last I went, asked for undercut and 2 lines, nuna wanted to charge me $5 for the lines; talked my way through it and no charge.

        • Wow, thank you for visiting and reading and analysing everything! Folks normally just skim through, but you're special!

          • @tempura: Your entire OP is 5 lines, don't get pissy. Did you find a place yet?

            • @smartazz104: Not yet, sir; i'm rostered in the CBD on Tuesday, so may up my search on Monday.

    • you forgot travel too

    • +2

      This.
Also, it seems like OP posts a question, then covers his eyes and shreds everyone's kind suggestions.

As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. It takes a lot more time to do fades, undercuts and lines. Say each haircut is $15 and takes 20 minutes, that's 3 cuts in an hour for $45, minus expenses - not a huge amount left.

From market observation, for less than $20, I wouldn't even expect a decent fade.

      • × shreds everyone's kind suggestions ×

Perhaps you might want to check that fact? As I iterate and I will reiterate once more, this is a genuine thread of tempura wanting to get value haircut and yes, admittedly some inputs were discounted and some get appreciation.

So you might want to get your fact straight before pointing finger, which is the problem of society these days.

        Sigh¬ it's Friday, woosah woosah ..

        • +1

          :).
          Case in point.

          • @ifcw: I'm upvoting you. Thank you for being submissive.

        • English, please.

Haircut? Ok, there's four places. There's the Haircut Hut, that's on third. There's Haircuts-R-Us, that's on third too. You got Get-Your-Haircut-Here, that's on third. 2 Lines, Sweet Undercut…matter of fact, they're all in the same complex, it's the Haircut Complex on third. The Haircut District.

You know, there's a little place called Mary Ann's Haircuts. The nice thing about that place is Mary Ann gets in the chair with you. I'm just kidding. Do you know who invented the haircut, OP? There's something for you to do: find that out.

    • -1

      I'm just kidding

For once, i thought you were serious. I was excited for a glimpse.

  • OP how much is Taroo cuts now?

    • -1

$20, that is dry cut and with additional negotiation with noona for the lines.

  • +1

$10 cash @ Shiny Star Hairdressing under Lee and George street near central station.

    • walking there now as we speak for survey purposes.

      • And what was the outcome?

        • -1

long queue; couldn't be bothered to ask, next time.

          • @tempura: The price is clearly visible when you enter the shop. Are you a troll?

            • @bashar20: price list doesn't specify if undercut fade with disconnected line considered to be which particular one. My apology if I made you feel that way.

    • $12 now. Used to be $10.

      • -1

can you check if the barber (Shiny Star Hairdressing) understands hard part carve, tapered undercut, high fade, low fade, disconnected/surgical lines? Not taking the piss here but genuine interest. If he understands and can do all of them, i will refer all my brothers, fellow colleagues, clients there.

  • If you learn to cut your own hair it saves you heaps of money.

    • mate did you just copy my reply?

      • I've posted this before on OzB so I think you might've copied me ;)

        • chicken & egg

  • +2

I am half bald and when I asked my barber if I can get a discount for a haircut he replied, “No it is actually more expensive as it takes longer. I have to look for it”.

  • Michael's Hairdressing at UTS Building 10. He does students, kids and pensioners for $15 and is normally $20. Close to Central. He is very good and nice to have a chat to, and mostly uses scissors and doesn't rush.

  • Would you like a massage with that?

    • -1

Of course not; i don't need shampoo and water too. I like it dry and cheap but stylish. Shampoo, water, massages cost extra. It's already difficult to find cheap tapered haircut these days.

  • +1

    Rip out a lawn mower

  • Check TAFE in case they have; they run barbery lessons and used to do it when I was in Adelaide

  • is this thread real?

    • No, it's not real. You are inside the matrix.

      • Pretty shi**y matrix.

        • society is to blame here ..

        • Agent tempura has infected the matrix. The one is missing in action.

  • +2

lol never seen OP got negged so much in a thread

    • +1

Were you one of them ?

    • Hm… maybe we should make a thread “top 10 most negged OPs of all time”
Suggestions anyone? First person that comes to mind is chickensaltfrie.
Current OP might end up in the hall of fame or at least honourable mentions.

      • +1

username checks out; no one seems to want to reply to your post. I thought I'll be nice.

I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for a cheap haircut I can tell you, you don't have money, but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let this go now that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you, but if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you and I will shave your head off.

    • Is that you, dad ?

    • nice lines from Taken 4

  • FM studio on Pitt Street does a guy's haircut for $15. No hair wash included though.

    • I'm fine with that; when did you last visit them, if you don't mind me asking ?

      • Been a few months since I've been there. Found somewhere cheaper at $10 though not in the CBD.

        • Cool, thanks!

    • What about AM studio?

  • Any Asian based hair salon will do cheaper

    Just don't go fancy ones

    • kamsahamnida !

  • +2

Why do you italics every second word? It makes you look like a knob. Its $20, find something better to save $5 over

    • -2

You came here just to comment about how I should be and should not be writing?

      • +2

Gluck to your shit style of sarcasm. It’ll get you far with that extra $5 you’ve pocketed.

        • Again, profanity, why?

  • +1

This thread is for trolls. OP also sounds like one. Move on ppls.
