Drizabone are doing a great sale on quite a few of their jackets. I've bought a few of these with the waxed cotton and they're great for keeping the wind and rain out.

Even better they're Australian made and good quality.

There's hooded and bomber jacket styles.

  I recently purchased the short jacket + hood and rain pants. I wore them a couple times in light to moderate rain and got soaked. They are far from waterproof.
  I emailed drizabone to see what they had to say and they never bothered to reply to me.
  I would avoid these if you're looking for anything to keep rain out.

    If you have the Oilskins, then it could be potentialy old stock that has lost its wax/oil, These coats require occasional maintence. Best way to Reproof them is to get some Oilskin reproofing spray, coat them heavily, place them in a black plastic bag and leave in the sun for a day.

    Shouldnt have to do it off the shelf though.

    Have had several brands of Oilskins in the family, great heavy duty coats if looked after properly. Drizabone i would consider good quality but not quite premium.
    Although the last one we have brought would be 6-8 years ago now. They tend to be something that doesnt need to be replaced often.

      Yes they are oil skins.
      I'll try what you suggested. But like you mentioned I shouldn't have to do it straight off the shelf.

  If you're looking for a waterproof jacket, there are better options than this for $149. (e.g. Decathlon)

    I guess I got fooled by the name of the brand and item description as fully weatherproof.
    Can you recommend any particular product from that decathlon website?

    I'm really struggling to find decent rainproof clothing. I have to kit out five employees who work outside and I've spent so much money on trying to get decent gear for them, with no luck so far.
