HD screen is a deal breaker for many - including myself.
Given alack of T480 deals lately, this is the best available for now.

Agree. Much better laptops you can find for $1000 or less imo, and most screens are HD if not better thesedays, no deal breaker here.
Example of a better laptop for under $1k please?
I have been keeping an eye out but nothing came close.
If not for the HD screen, i would have popped a $120 500GB Samsung Evo, $60 8GB Samsung DDR4 sodimm. $60 72WH battery. $1400 enterprise grade laptop seem decent.
This? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Asus-ROG-STRIX-GL503VD-FY126T-i7…
Cheaper than this laptop. So you prefer the laptop in the deal or this one?
@DarthPyro: Thanks. Awesome spec for the money. Anything on 13/14" screen please?
2.6kg + 15" make the Asus difficult to carry around.
Been hunting for the past few months to replace my current ageing thinkpad. Portable, tough built and tanky battery is a must. No luck so far.
@[Deactivated]: Oh you looking for a smaller screen? I was just finding a better laptop for the specs. But 2.6kg isn't much, especially with a sachel type bag
@DarthPyro: Yes, mate. I do not use laptop for games. Casual RAW editing, other light application (MS Office, adobe acrobat etc), and chrome with 10-15 tabs active.
I travel overseas a bit more than an average person in AU, 2.6kg + 15" just won't cut it. Robustness, relatively lightweight, and a big battery is crucial - like most enterprise grade laptops…
After being on OzB for many years, well aware of lowish cost "gaming" spec in the $1k mark… but not, won't work. Neither would the 2-in-1 or ultrabooks due to poor thermal design… it won't handle heat well under full/semi-full load.
@[Deactivated]: I sent you a pm
I can give you enterprise grade 15 incher for $1300, ssd, fhd, high performance cpu, etc. and you know that haha
@[Deactivated]: Haha. Yes. I would have pulled the trigger if it's a 14 or 13" .

how about hp? swap out screen (easy) and you're good
@[Deactivated]: Not a fan of HP. Got an Elitebook at work. Not comparable to Dell and Lenovo. Poor built chassis, limited ports, average battery.
Very average keyboard too.
@[Deactivated]: I would never buy hp.
You can definitely upgrade the screen and SSD, but that is no where near worth it lol
SSD yes. Screen prob not. Cannot resell the junk that comes with it. Oh well.
screen can be changed, but again why bother? get a refurbished latitude with 3 year warranty with the right specs and be done with it! too much trouble changing screen on Lenovo T and X
Changing is easy, done it before. Problem is, need to pay for a new screen, and can't sell the old one.
Had many Thinkpads throughout the years. Pretty solid stuff.
I think this is a better deal! https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/452636
Spec wise, yes. Built wise, no - by far. Apple vs orange.
A dell latitude is a better comparison.
No deal. I got a T480 with i7, SSD and 1080P display for $100 more than this from Computer Alliance
Recent? Please share. I can't seem to find one over the past few weeks.
Currently going for $1799 https://www.computeralliance.com.au/lenovo-t480-14-core-i7-n…
Yes that's the model I got. Was listed on eBay for $1499 plus a 15% off code = $1274
Damn. Definitely a deal. Saw one deal posted on OzB last year for similar price… nothing for this year tho.
@[Deactivated]: wait till another computer alliance deal on eBay then. they come around.
@[Deactivated]: No chance… been looking for a fair while now, and try to get one before this financial year is over.
@[Deactivated]: don't be desperate, eofy deals will start veeery soon
@[Deactivated]: When do EOFY sales normally start?
HD screen, no SSD and no dedicated graphics card.
I'm not sure why anyone would buy this?
