One of my all time favourite movie. One of the best from Ridley Scott. $34.95 in other stores to Pre-Order. Can't wait for the Dolby Atmos sound really.
Don't forget Cashrewards/Shopback.

Decent preorder price, not so much an ozbargain though.

It's cheaper than everyone else? That's a bargain.

Was this movie first shown in cinemas in 2002?

  • +1

This movie was released in 2001 according to Wikipedia

    • Wikipedia:

Release date: 21 February 2002 (Australia)

      2001 for other countries.

  • Be mindful that the OZ disc looks like getting on 2 discs - compared to the 3 disc set in the US and UK (thus - a whole disc of bonus features goes MIA in OZ.)

itune Australia is selling it for $4.99. And apple upgrade to 4K if you are buying a HD movie.

    • Interesting. No guarantee it will be upgraded, but I also don't see why it wouldn't.

    • Thanks - took the punt!

    • Lower quality.

I’d been hanging off to see what happened with my iTunes copy of Alien. First they upgraded the art work to match the new 4K release a week or so ago and then last night it changed to show it as 4K…so I decided to take the gamble and grabbed BHD for $4.99 this morning and crossing my fingers it too gets the 4K upgrade. $20 is a good price for the disc and if iTunes don’t upgrade I might grab it for Dolby Atmos alone.

The best audio in a movie bar none. And a great movie too…

I love war films and this is indeed one of the best. Balance of the horrors or war - especially when things go wrong, the great deeds of bravery, and seriously tense all the way. All based on real events too.

  • Powerful movie, the book by Mark Bowdon was even better, an astonishing read, the most tense, visceral, gripping account of warfare I've ever read, spoiled a lot of other books for me.

  • I have only seen this movie once, the problem I had with this movie, the portrayed the other side could not shoot very well, I found that insulting to the other side and the viewer. Like a video game put on don't hurt me difficulty level.

Then you watch a movie like Hurt locker, a team was pinned down that seemed forever by a single sniper with a AK47.

The ratio by which the US soldiers were outnumbered, none of them should have survived. On the whole, the Somalians couldn't shoot very well. Did you think it was just more whitey prejudice against POC?

      • I will watch it again.

    • US were trained soldiers against militia with little to no training at all. I served in ADF for 9 years and I thought it was easy to shoot a rifle. Point and shoot. Lol, I was very wrong at basic training. It was harder than I thought. Takes alot of skill to get accurate fire. From your breathing, trigger manipulation even the weather all takes in affect.

      • Any one who has played paintball gets hit sooner or later.
Lucky that is a paintball and not a bullet.
