What Is The Best Chinese Android Tablet?

What is the best Chinese android tablet you can buy today?

We know there is no android tablet that can compete with the fluidity of the iPad. However, frankly, iPads can be too expensive for the value they offer.

I'm interested to hear what people think about android tablets from China. Brands that come to mind:

  • Xiaomi
  • Huawei
  • Alldocube
  • Chuwi
  • Teclast
  • and others

My typical tablet usage includes reading large PDF books on physics and image processing and watching high fidelity specialty lectures.

Appreciate the advice!

      Ditto.

Very cheap of Officeworks and they are very capable with good displays.

there is no android tablet that can compete with the fluidity of the iPad

Probably because they lock down any multi tasking functionality which defeats the purpose of a device of that form factor

I'm still rocking my Lenovo Tab4 8 Plus from China which was a worthy Nexus 7 replacement. Snapdragon 625, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage being the key specs.

From my experience Xiaomi are good, but usually lack Google Play in their latest models, Huawei is up there with Samsung and I'd put Alldocube, Teclast then Chuwi as the top 3 lower tier Chinese brands.

    • Only the Chinese versions lack Google Play. The international versions include it. On the Chinese versions, there is a Google installer in Xiaomi's included app store, which will install the Google services and Play Store.

Also, you can flash international firmware onto Chinese models.

      • For Xiaomi? There are no international versions of the Mi Pad 4.

        • Even so, you can still download the Google Installer to install the Play Store on the Chinese firmware.

          • @rogerm22: That's not a perfect solution though.

            • @Clear: Well you will have full access to the Play Store, but will have some Chinese Xiaomi apps. To some people this will be a big deal, others no so much.

    Viagra??

The Ainol Burning Sensation wins just for the name.

    • Tried Ainol once; PITA.

  • Best? Or best value?

If you just want the prettiest screen possible and are willing to overlook internals, the alldocube x which uses the same panel as the Samsung tab s4 and costs around half the price is hard to pass. Otherwise there are several tablets which use the Sharp 2k IPS panel such as the Teclast t10/t20 are also great looking but a step below.

If the internals matter, then Xiaomi and Lenovo are your best bet since they are the only ones to use snapdragon chips AFAIK. Huawei makes very nice tablets but they aren't cheap.

Beware of Chinese phones/tablets ect spying being used don't trust them.

Really comes down to who you want spying on you. The US or China.

      • From what I have been reading lately, you have more to worry about spying from either UK or Australia.

        • Which would be shared across the Five Eyes ;)

  • Xiaomi and Huawei are very good but with all tablets beware of FAKES if you are buying on sites such as ebay or gearbest.

    • +2

      Gearbest don't sell fakes ;)

    • How do you spot fake Chinese android tablets? Would you find fakes even on eBay?

      • Even on eBay? There are many fake tech items sold there. Dodgey memory cards and flash drives come to mind.

  • Proud of owner of a Huawei Mediapad M3 8.0 WiFi only for around 430 AUD delivered from Amazon US way back in 2017 February.

It went down as 350 AUD delivered I believe maybe a tiny bit lower.

But I also found a seller on gumtree secondhand for 280 AUD once but ended up not buying it because I wanted to put more into my SFF PC at the time and the person I was going to give it to pissed me off a little bit around that time so sucks for them.. otherwise they would have a nice 2016 modern 4gb 8 inch android tablet now instead of their 7 year old craptop with broken mic.

Ah well always be nice to your IT Tech Help Desk Support guy/friend/slave/lover.

  • I'm having the same problem. I want a 12" tablet. With GPS would be nice as one of two main uses will be in the car on a mounted arm for internet radio and GPS/maps. (Though I could buy two tablets I guess. But total their cost and I'm back to the price of a better single tablet.)

And while a SIM slot would be good it's not a strict deal breaker.

BUT… There just doesn't seem to be one below several hundred $. Get something like the 12" Chuwi and the next thought is, where do I get a replacement battery in 12-18 months.

If I'm going to pay several hundred, I may as well get a higher quality tablet with an Optus data SIM plan. Either use the data plan yourself, or find someone to buy it at a discount that still reduces the cost of the tablet. (Can you transfer it into their name, so THEY get charged for excess data - who knows!?)

Its other main use would be at the piano displaying downloaded sheet music. The secondhand laptop I already have, along with the CTRL + > keys would solve this one (to orientate the screen to a full page size). However laptops are too heavy for the piano music rail. So I'd need some kind of height-adjustable arm off to the side that can 'hang' the laptop in front of me above my hands.

    [Sigh!]

    • Did you both end up finding a decent value Chinese Tab?

  • But iPads are Chinese? ;)
