VIVA Photography from scoopon

Hi I was just wondering if anyone has used their voucher, if you could shared how much they charge for extra prints and what the $200 can buy u, if anything!

What are the quality of the photos on DVD, if it's possible to print 4"X6" standard photos?

thanks!

  • Not personal experience - but a colleague at work was talking about Viva's 'outrageous' pricing, being about $200 per print. But again, I don't know the specifics.

  • The only group buy deal on something like this that I would buy would be where it spelled out what I got. Pixie photos was featured a couple of days ago and that seemed fair value, but I wasn't sure how hard it would be to get a booking. Otherwise, I would just buy one of the deals where you get a CD with all your photos on it to use as you like.

There is probably going to be high pressure sales techniques with these photography studios that are selling the prints.

    • i havent seen any photo studios, where they would give u the photos, so u could print them.

i should've just found a freelancer photopharphy who would, but didn't think of it at the time.

i'm not going to be buying anything extra from these guys, that's for sure.
just wanted to know if the $200 was worth anything or just 'airer' advertising.

  • In Perth there have been deals where you get the CD. That would be what I would want. I probably wiull buy one at some stage. They are generally about $49 - $69 if my recollection is correct.

  • Funny you mention this. I just finished a photo shoot in a garage.
Portable studio equipment means i can go shoot in anybodys garage / lounge room.

Too bad you're in Victoria, otherwise I could do you a deal. Anybody after a photographer in Syd let me know ;)

I would suggest checking out the links here… although it presents only one side of the story, there is a lot of detail in some of the complaints. The average price per print seems to be $200 to $300, with a minimum spend of around $1000.

And there is something fishy about the reviews on Google…they are all 5 Satr, and 20 or so reviews on the same date.

  • Here is one where they come to you up to 30km from Perth CBD and give youa CD of the images. I would confirm that you can actually use the images yourself before wasting your time on a photo session.

  • pixie photo are another scam. We eneded up getting a refund after they changed the whole deal anyway.
but the deal was for a large print pic, and a couple of smaller ones and a keyring, a 1 hour photo shoot plus a cinematic screening and a cd. when my wife called to make a booking they were rude and didnt want to make a scoopon booking, she called another store and they didnt want to hounor the whole deal, only a 20min photo session, you get 1 small photo and if you want a cd you only get one photo of your choice only or pay extra to get the other pics.
i know a good photographer here in Melb hes very good and very cheap also, he did my wedding for under $1000 and gave me 10 X A2 prints 5 cd copies of all photos taken plus 500 standard photo prints also.

  • I've won "300" viva vouchers 4 times atleast now. You have to pay $50 when you book and its credited towards photos. I always found it more an advertising thing.

  • went to the photo thing, was ok. didn't get anything extra, still waiting to pick up my one print.
did it about 2 weeks ago, they say it take 3-4 weeks to have my photo ready.

seriously it take like 1 day at big w. the photos were ok, only average!

  • The prices are hugely inflated. But the people r nice, and I enjoyed the photo shoot, I only got 1 photo from it, no DVD or soft copy, so it was an expensive photo but fun to experience I guess

  • Be aware that the cost for ONE 8x12 print with NO digital copy is $295, and the cost for a small album is almost $3000.
Thesedays, they don't sell just the CD with files, and you can't have the digital copy if your don't spend a lot of $$$ in wall art (as in thousands of $$$).

Considering their outdated equipments, I'd suggest you buy your own camera and take good pictures with it. $3000 will get you a much better camera and lens than what they're using right now. Their camera (as of this day) will only cost you around $400! Even my camera phone costs me more than that, and I can go crazy with it.
They only have 2 backgrounds: black and white, and their pictures are very boring. They are not photographers. They are wall-art sellers. Photography is only a mask. I bet they used to work in sales and got crash course in photography the day they join the company.

Even if one day they finally make good pictures, you'll still have to pay $$$ for the prints, maybe even more.
