TCL C4US 75" 4K QUHD Vs Sony KD75X7800F 75" 4K UHD

I am looking at buying 75" 4k tv and don't want to spend more than $2000. I could see both on sale for $1995 in jbhifi and Harvey Norman. I prefer to go with Android OS for the flexibility of installing app and Kodi.

TCL looks better in terms of spec and warranty. Sony has good brand value.

As both are of same price range, any thoughts and suggestions which one is better?

I bought a 65" TCL 2 years ago. No way would I buy that brand again.
It locks up and the screen goes white the only way to reset it is to pull the power plug out and restart.

Take it back. TCL have a 3 year warranty unlike Sony which only guarantee their TVs will function for 1 year…

  • Get the Sony

  • I recon get the Hisense 75P7, Ozbargains favourite TV, it can be had for $1600.
I've got the 65in version and I, my family and friends absolutely love it, the picture quality is really good, excellent colours and deep blacks.

The only complaint is while watching a TV channel when you press the info button it shows the name of the current program, and pressing the right directional button gives a little more info (not very useful), to read the full info you need to press the blue button.
It would have been sooo much more better to press the OK button to open the programs full info, or alternatively the up and down directional buttons to extend and close the full program description, and the right and left directional buttons cycle through the tv stations programming, basically like Samsung.
In a nutshell the TV's hardware is excellent but the software isn't the most intuitive, but hey I bought it to watch stuff not play around with the software.

Hisense TV's also come with a 3 year warranty, if it stops working and Hisense decides to replace it (rather than repair) and your TV is an older model you'll the newer model.
Some Ozbargainer's got their N model (2017) replaced with the P model (2018), of course one Ozbargainer has written about his horrible experience with Hisense warranty, 2 replacements and now he just wants a refund as Hisense are dragging their arses.

  • Go instore and ask the attendant to let you test each set then make your decision. If it was me though it would be the TCL. Better build quality and better warranty.

I've had the TCL C4US 75 (purchased for $1600) for about 2 months now and wish I bought a similarly priced N/P7 Hisense now. The biggest issue for me is the 8bit panel vs the N/P7 10bit panel. You'll notice dithering/banding artifacts in dark scenes because of this. Also there is a bit of edge light backlight bleed, and whilst not terrible could be better.

    • The biggest issue for me is the 8bit panel vs the N/P7 10bit panel.

The HDR 10bit panel is what intrigued my interest in the the Hisense P7, bought the 65in one.
I have the dynamic backlighting and contrast set to high or medium, and a friend (fellow IT nerd) mistook it for an OLED, the blacks are really beautiful.
The only thing I maybe regret is not getting the 75in, but at the time of purchase the 65in was $1300 and 75in was about $2000.

  • I have a TCL C6US with a 10 bit Panel running Android OS. Its been 3 months and No problems so far. Even Android is snappy. Better than expected.

    Hisense over both.

  • I purchased the KD75X7800F on 18/04 for $1,790 at Harvey Norman (shipping included), way too good a deal to pass up! It arrives tomorrow, can't wait!

Unfortunately I missed that one. Good to know that you got it. Please update how it is.

      • Very happy with it mate, especially for that price!
