Hi,
I have a MY16 Kia Sportage Platinum that is able to receive Tom Tom infotainment system update but apparently have to fork out $300 odd for the update.
I am wondering if anyone has found a way to get it for free or cheaper?
Kia Sportage Owner - Have You Got Tom Tom Update?

yikes. our kia sportage (also 2016 I think) doesnt have navigation, but can use android auto. Might be becuase ours is base model, but if you have that capability it may be possible to use that instead?
Map updates? I wouldn't bother, I doubt the streets have changed that much
Added to that, and from my experience with in car GPS, the maps updates are usually a few years behind anyway. For 99% of the driving people do, it would not be worth paying for any updates.
If the car was 10 years old, maybe, but not a 3 yo car. Road infrastructure doesn’t change or expand at that great of a rate.
Have you tried googling, I just did a search and it seems you can DIY.
I have a Cerato MY18 and I need updates also. The speed limits have changed a lot where I live on the Mornington Peninsula. Almost every non suburban road was 100k now most are down to 80k. More speeding revenue.
I have a MY15 Sorento and was told the same thing. You’d be better off just using the maps on your phone.
Would it be a warranty item? That your dealer could assist you with?
