Buying Samsung Galaxy Watch off Catch.com.au - anything to be aware of?

I'm thinking of buying the Samsung Galaxy Watch off catch.com.au -. It's currently $357.50 shipped from a seller called TechWarehouse.

I am aware that the Samsung Pay won't work and it would need to be shipped back if any warranty issues arise. Is there anything else that I should be aware of before purchasing?

Cheers in advance!!

  • Why won't Samsung pay work? Because I've been thinking of getting for that purpose. Does Google pay work?

    • overseas models don't work with Aus samsung pay afaik

    • I don't know why, but from what I read Samsung Pay won't work in Aus. Not sure about Google Pay? Didn't plan on ever using it for paying.

    • Definitely wont work, people say the actual android/tizen os needs to be flashed to make it work. The same is true for a grey import Samsung phone, however you can always use Google pay on those phones while on the watch you can't.

    Dunno, but:
    https://www.tobydealsau.com/en_AU/product/samsung-galaxy-wat… $317 delivered + 1.5% Shopback
    https://www.tecobuy.com/en_AU/samsung-galaxy-watch-r800-blue… $319 + $15 delivered (so google shop says)
just found googling - I don't know of these 2 online sellers, so buyer beware

    • i've heard a lot of negative reviews re: tecobuy. I'd avoid

Cellular, local stock if you want to pay the extra or don't mind paying it off over 2yrs

That sounds like a good plan. 👍 No pun intended. Might do that myself.

    • Thanks, but that's $200 extra just for local stock. I can't imagine I'd spend $200 shipping it back if anything goes wrong.

        It's the 4G model…

  • Why? It will make it harder to on sell with the limited features. I bought a perfectly good 42mm Galaxy Watch second hand with LTE only 6 months old for $300. To me buying with a grey import is not better than buying local second hand all things considered (in this case especially).

    • If someone has a second hand one in Perth that they are wanting to sell, let me know! Happy to buy second hand if the price was right :-)

  • I bought the 42mm Bluetooth one recently from JB Hi-Fi price matched to Tobydeals.

    YMMV.

    • Cheers. Might try that.

  • I've been debating the same thing for a month now!

  • I successfully price matched Catch price at Rebel sport in early January. Thus getting an Australian model with Australian warranty.

Edit: This was at Rebel in Myaree.

    • Really? That's interesting to know. So now I have two options to try

      (1) See if Rebel or JB's will price match TobyDeals
      (2) See if Rebel or JB's will price match Catch

Don't like my chances, but it's worth a shot!

      Cheers all :-)

      • Rebel said they will do a .com.au website, so catch will probably work, but not tobydeals.

  • Managed to get Rebel to price match the Catch.com.au price. They added $6.50 to the catch price of $357.50, as you need to be a Catch member to get free shipping. I was fine with that.

Then with 5% gift card discount (through RACQ app) the total price I paid was $345.80 :-)

Thanks to everyone in this awesome community for the suggestion of price matching at Rebel and JB's.

  • it works for me.
