Crazydeals started this off with stretching the boundaries of what some here consider a deal.
The posts that have created the reactions can be found here

Their latest "improved" deal is here

and this is the one I am addressing with the following comments
For this I suggested we adjourn the discussion there to here, that way all of Ozbargain benefit's.
Now all the below is MY personal opinion….
I think Crazydeals has done us all a favour by initially stretching the boundaries by which we thought we operated and participated on this site.
While I have been a critic of Crazydeals over-hyping in the past and the lack of information, in this case on it's own the deal as promoted has merit, that being it is a good deal when it comes to shipping.
Now that things are growing exponentially here, the understandings of how the site works probably needs to be highlighted. ie standards of how to post, whats a bargain etc.
This needs flexibility and one persons bargain is not always another - bargains are value based, and service, support, shipping, convenience ,quality, reputation, as well as price factor into my decision what's a bargain.
Do we strive for the best in deals or do we strive for accuracy in the information being presented. I think the latter is at least most important. With the rest we can assist but ultimately it is up to the individuals here to discern and judge for themselves.
Simply put, as an example is a $4.95 Dominos pizza a bargain compared to a $5 Pizzahut pizza? and as they offer these almost every month are they really bargains at all. But knowing and finding the codes here is far better than just rocking up to a store and paying list price.
Informed comments on alternatives are good to add to the post. If there is really a far better deal around - then a new post is probably better - more people see it.
Negative votes are probably better to indicate flaws in the offer being made, spamming etc as they are highlighted with the deal. Likewise positive votes also highlight good deals
That said, we'll never get right everytime
I think we need to look at the big picture and that is the total price including shipping. There are plenty of great bargains on electronics/computer items from eBay especially from Hong Kong. On the surface they seem to be undercutting the competition but its not until you realise that your $20 item has $40 shipping that its not a good deal. So in the example with Crazydeals , if the total price is below the lowest on staticprice (inc. shipping) then it is a deal, otherwise it is not.
Now, you bring up a good point with Dominos. Even though Dominos sell a similar product to Pizza hut, they are not the same. A 500g HD from WD with same specs as a 500g HD from Maxtor, on the surface look like the same thing but they are priced slightly differently. Same thing with a cheese pizza. A matter of taste preference. So basically I'm saying, compare Fuji Apples with Fuji Apples and not with Gala Apples.
