BLUNT Mini + Kids Umbrella $79.95 Delivered @ Rushfaster

60
SHIPIT

Rushfaster have reduced a few of their Blunt umbrellas (An XS Metro, a Golf and ths Kids umbrella) but whereas before the discount they had free shipping – they no longer do.
This umbrella was $98.95 with free shipping and it's been reduced to $79.95 + $9.95 shipping ($89.90) however I found the code SHIPIT will remove the shipping fees. The cheapest I can find it for anywhere else is $95.00.

I've had a yellow Blunt Classic for 4yrs, I bought one cos I was sick of buying a new crappy umbrella every year and wanted something that would last. My nephew is absolutely mad for it, he insists on carrying it at all times if I have it with me, but he's a bit rough with it. I wanted to get him a a cheap yellow umbrella he could play with but they're too much of a hazard to eyes – the benefit of the Blunt is that they don't have pointy bits. Also this thing apparently changes colour when it gets wet which is cool.

Reckon my kid can make do with a kmart brolly.

  • Worth if in the long term and saves the environment. You can put in one of those Bluetooth finder chips as there's a little pocket for it.

    Also some cool designs.

We got this one for our older son when it was on sale. I think it has a 5 year warranty.

https://top3.com.au/categories/outdoor-and-pet/umbrellas---r…. Good if you can find these.

Also be aware that the Metro XS are small umbrellas to keep them reasonably compact. You wont be protected fully from the side rain. But then again you wont have any hope with horizontal rain. Good in reasonable winds.

The OZBs wont be swarming on this one, as they are expensive upfront.

Yeah the Rushfaster site is annoying as usually any code is offset by the postage being added back depending on the sales they have.

      … saves the environment

Buying enviro-unfriendly cheap umbrellas until I see one being wrenched from a turtle's nose.

Reduces waste and it going to landfill.

Only if you don't look after it.

          • -2

@mlakmlak: More likely to look after one that costs this much.

@S2: Looking at people's phone's I would strongly disagree with that. Smashed iPhone's, smashed S10's. If near $2,000 phones can't stay un-smashed what hope does a $100ish umbrella have.

              • @Tardvark: Pretty darn good point. Crazy enough, I'm going to still attempt a counter argument (/perspective?).
If we're just judging by what can be seen, I haven't seen any smashed iphones for a really long time, definitely no smashed S10s yet, and the earth looks flat. Perhaps sight alone isn't always a good measure.
I do still think someone who purchased an $80 umbrella would look after it more than a cheaper $20 umbrella.
Paying more certainly doesn't guarantee it gets lost or stolen, but it would ensure it's less likely to be damaged from regular use.

Happy for the kids to get wet and catch a cold so I can take carers leave from work 😉

    • Nice find

  • What happens when you leave it on the train, or it gets swiped from the umbrella stand at the shops. Does it have a find my umbrella feature you can hook up to?

I dont think i would trust my kids with an $80 umbrella not to break it

  • +7

Holy moly! I thought that we were getting an adult umbrella and then a kids one for free. But this is just for a kid? What kid has an umbrella anyway? They always have rain coats.

all of our umbrellas last forever, including the one or two bought from woolies. If someone is sick of buying a new crappy umbrella every year that does not last, time to learn to look after your stuff.

Perhaps a keyboard warrior like yourself aren't going outside as much as they do?

      • He should run a course on this. All our brolly's get destroyed post haste. The one I keep in my car survives reasonably well until the family have destroyed all of theirs and take mine, then it's buggered soon after too.

        • Is this one indestructible or something

          • +1

@asa79: Not indestructible, but they do not break in storms, as all of my previous umbrellas have. Google 'Blunt Umbrella Wind Tunnel' to check them out, or see this from National Geographic Channel https://youtu.be/N9SLPNwW1TQ

            • +1

@Syd2042: "Here kids you'll be safe in that storm with this $80 storm proof umbrella, go play outside!"

Why would anyone open an umbrella in a fricken storm?

  • Clever idea - if it sells well - remove the pointy bits and add 1000% to the markup
In that way it’s not too dissimilar to health insurance: remove something and simultaneously bang up the price
    - except the insurer is taking away something you want, and need.

    Anyway, nice little brolly

    • Or a brolly with holes is the bronze insurance cover. You'll have to cough up double for a brolly without holes - Gold Cover.

  • Why can't they make all umbrellas non-pointy? It doesn't look too hard.
