    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:deal_posting_guideline…

    Starting Etiquette

The guidelines are a rough blend of what this site was intended for and the changing attitudes of the community. They have been written to try and help make your experience here, more pleasant.

    Especially for your first post.

On that point, one thing to avoid is, telling the community that you are new, and asking them to take it easy on you. A number of people have tried this as their opener and it does not go down well.

thank you for the info, as im much more likely to pass a coles than a chemist warehouse though

  • Good find. They're on p. 21 in the catalogue.
I think they were cheaper at Chemist warehouse.

** Doesn't apply to the Swisse Mens and Women's Ultivite 60 Tablets

    • but does to 120 tablets :)

  • What's the average price of these Vitamins after the 50% mark down please?

    • Don't know about Coles, but I got the Swisse IMMUNE for about $6.40 at Chemist warehouse. Most of them were under $10 there.

      • Was that when they were at half price?

Swisse Immune work for you too?

        • yes, yes. The Chemist warehouse swisse sale is finished now.
But here's their Swisse prices just as a checklist-http://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/category.asp?id=587

        • The Chemist Warehouse sale is still on until Sunday (22nd May) at the Sydney locations I have visited…
Seems strange they would have finished the sale at some locations but not others ???

      • I also bought the Swisse IMMUNE from Chemist Warehouse (Indooroopilly, Brisbane) on Monday, and paid $11 something. This was the 1/2 price. How did you get it for $6.40!?!?

        • Sorry, my mistake- it was $11.48.

      • half-price at coles/woolworths = half their normal price
half-price at chemist warehouse = half rrp

so half-price at coles/woolworths is generally cheaper than that at chemist warehouse :)

  • Thanks for that, but why is Mark Webber holding a pack then??? Anyway still buy ultiboost immune tablets so will stock up on a couple.

    What about ultivite 120 packs?

    • Webber still trying to get over a bout of "Ham Singing" on the Canberra Milk Kid Ad.

If it's good enough for Webber it's good enough for me

      If you like 2nd best…

They didn't seem to help Ricky Ponting. He's looked tired and stressed for years now.

  • I haven't checked Coles in a while, but my local (SA) Woolworths charges $44.95 for 120 tablets of Swisse Ultivites. Assuming Coles is the same, paying $22.48 is an excellent price. Just this week I bought 2x packs for $28ea via eBay. Boo.

I like Swisse multi's, these & Centrum are the only two brands that don't make me burp trace elements! :)

  • I noticed these were on sale at my coles beginning of this week. I can just imagine how much they have left in stock. Does anyone notice how the advertised items are already on sale prior to their catalogue release and stocks very minimum on the actual Thursday.

    • They've been on special all this prior week at most coles - suspect that they forgot to advertise them last week or want to move more stock this week.

  • Does anyone know where to get the 'sports' ones on special? Coles dont stock them and I've never seen them as part of the promotions at chemist warehouse.

  • I don't really understand the difference between multivitamins. Does Swisse have a competitive advantage over Centrum or Cennovis in any way? I'd been taking Centrum (A to Z) daily until I came across Cennovis One Daily (for men) and realised that each capsule has about 2x the amount of each vitamin found in Centrum tablets + Fish Oil for the same price.

    Any experts here?

    • +1

The biggest difference is the packaging/price. As long as drug products are sold in in Australia they undergo rigorous testing and QC. Swiss is well known due to their intensive marketing featuring sporting celebs, and you will pay for that marketing in the product.

Generally Multi V's are not needed in a well balanced diet, under special circumstances ask a nutritionist or doctor.

Dont get Swisse Ultivite. It is the only one that turns your piss radioactive. you are just pissing money down the drain!

I go for Centrum which is cheaper and take Mr Vitamins home brand of Fish Oil

    • that is awesome! does it glow green? Apparently if you eat a lot of beetroot, your piss comes out red!

    • +1

Sounds like a story for snopes.com

    • +2

A lot of multivitamins do that… It's mainly due to the B vitamins.

      • all the brands do it…. shows you how much the body needs them at all! body just flushes it all away. you cant just pop a pill… it also counts on HOW the body absorbs the vitamins and from what combination of foods. 1 pill wont do it, and thats why your wee is yellow.

    • +1

If it was actually radioactive, your wang would have fallen into the toilet bowl by now.

It just means you've absorbed all the vit B you can for the day, and the rest comes out in your pee. I think from memory it is the beta carotene in vit B? The same stuff that makes carrots orange etc

    • Don't blame the Swisse, that was the gamma radiation you got bombarded with; making you turn green when you get angry at DFO for not having the PRL shirts you like!

      RAAARRRR…NUBZY SMASH!!!

    • +1

      "Up and at 'em!"

  • If you mean you wee looks fluorecent, it's the vitamin B, so it's actually a good sign.

  • +1

its excess vitamins being flushed out because you have enough of them/dont need them

    • exactly

  • +1

For some, vitamins are like religion. " I take Centrum." " I take Swisse." "Don't take Swisse, it's radioactive." "Don't take Centrum, it's not radioactive."

I've taken most and never found any that seemed to help all that much, until I tried Xtend-Life (xtend-life.com from New Zealand). No, I don't own the company, own any shares, only a happy customer.

They're more expensive but you can get 20% off quite easily. Well worth checking out their website if you're interested in premium supplements.

    By all means, each to their own and I sincerely hope yours works for you. And I'll leave the last word to their website about taking a break from your vitamins for two weeks a year;

"With all our specialized products (with the exception of our Omega 3) we recommend taking a break from them for two weeks once a year. The purpose of this is to ensure that your body does not become too accustomed to them and tend to become ‘lazy’. By withholding the nutrients for 2 weeks it helps the supplements to continue been most effective without the need to have to increase daily doses. If you are taking the full dose of more than one specialty product, say Total Balance and one of the other enteric coated products the 2 week break could be taken more frequently at 6 monthly intervals."

I take it you're the Sonia Kruger of Xtend-Life

      • I don't understand the reference… Please explain, as a famous red head once said. Just saying what works for me. Peace to all vitamin religions :)

        • Sonia Kruger used to / still does flog Swisse range of stuff :)

    • Good to see that isn't your first post lol

      • +5

Yeah, it seems so. Sorry if I was too over the top. I just think they're good. Plus I've never seen it said before to take a break once a year. Makes sense to me, but I'm no expert. Their equivalent of Swisse's Immune got my son through winter without a cold, when normally he would miss a week or two off school during that period. Could well be a coincidence. Again, use what works for you :)

And no, not my first post and I don't think I've mentioned them before in any of my comments. I mentioned keeping razors in olive oil a few times to save on them going rusty (when there were free or discount razors posted) until somebody bitch slapped me for talking about it too much. And I don't own olive oil trees either.

        • +1

No bitch slapping this time around.

        • That "taking a break" business makes absolutely no sense. In the case of water soluble vitamins, your body uses what it needs and urinates the rest. Even if your body did become accustomed, two weeks off a year wont reset it.

        • In your two weeks off you can take Swisse =D

  • +1

has anyone thought about just having a healthy well balanced diet and staying fit with regular cardiovascular exercise….
funnily enough if you do that then you probably dont need to chew through these…
(unless you have a particular condition/situation/deficiency of course)

    • The ones who do the above are probably the ones taking the multivitamins (me included). Figure its best to be ahead of the curve even if its getting flushed to werribee or creating mutant plants out in the back yard ….

    • +4

Vitamin supplements = expensive urine. As you say, those with a well balanced diet almost certainly don't need these, but each to their own I guess.

It's still a good deal for those who "depend on swisse"

    • +1

Great advice, the only caveat I would suggest is that we all have times in our life when for whatever reason we either cannot or choose not to eat healthy. At these times a decent vitamin supplement is cheap insurance! ;)

I find that even with a healthy diet, alternating a multi one day & fish oil the next keeps those trace elements & EFA's topped up nicely, without the expensive fluorescent urine or cat breath! :)

  • Nice find!
